There are things that people both love and hate, such as specific foods, sports teams, and the designs of houses. Another thing that garners polarizing opinions is cars. Some car models, such as Teslas, are especially divisive. Here are four cars that are both loved and hated. 

Tesla Model 3 is a car that is both loved and hated

The Tesla brand, overall, is very divisive. As the automaker that best represents the movement toward electric cars, Tesla is loved for its eco-friendly credentials. However, Tesla elicits negative opinions from those that have a strong affinity for the internal combustion engine, as well as some conservatives who associate Tesla with cars that “liberal environmentalists” drive. Elon Musk’s controversial rhetoric adds to the divisiveness of Tesla as well. 

As the most mainstream of Tesla’s cars, the Model 3 is its biggest target. The Model 3’s quality control issues give critics a reason to hate the car too. However, as a whole, the Model 3 is an excellent car, and it’s easy to see why people love it. It delivers excellent performance, has many state-of-the-art technologies, and gives a hopeful glimpse into the future of EVs.

People either love or hate the Rolls-Royce Cullinan

With the Cullinan, Rolls-Royce faces the same controversy as other luxury automakers that deviated from their trademark high-performance sedans, coupes, and sports cars in favor of SUVs, which often sell much better. The Cullinan, Rolls-Royce’s first SUV, loses some of the graceful design associated with other Rolls-Royce models in favor of a bolder look. It’s a good example of a car design where “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” 

However, one can’t deny the extravagance and plush ride of the Cullinan’s cabin, along with its relative spaciousness. Also, Rolls-Royce’s decision to build the Cullinan turned out to be a financially good one, as it helped boost the sales of the brand.

Honda Ridgeline is a loved and hated pickup truck

One of the most loved and hated pickup trucks is the Honda Ridgeline. People hate the Ridgeline because, with its “monocoque chassis,” they don’t view it as a “real truck.” Conversely, people love the Ridgeline for its maneuverability, unique pickup bed features, and a smooth and comfortable ride. Also, as described by CarBuzz, “the new Ford Maverick features a monocoque chassis like the Ridgeline, and if Ford says it’s a truck, well, then it must be a truck, right?”

A great deal of both love and hate for the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4

Another example of a car that people both love and hate is the reimaged Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4. People love the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 because it’s a “stylistic tribute to the original but with modern power and performance.” Conversely, people that hate it criticize it as a “cash-grab by Lamborghini based on the 1980s-inspired nostalgia currently rife in pop culture.” Also, Marcello Gandini, the designer of the original Countach, dismissed the new version. Via a press release, he stated that “the makeover does not reflect his spirit and his vision” — and this “spirit of innovation and breaking the mold” is “totally absent in this new design.”
