Is the Hyundai Accent a fuel-efficient car getting discontinued by 2023?
Hyundai’s subcompact sedan, the Accent, is getting the axe by 2023. That’s unfortunate, considering the Hyundai Accent’s merits. First, the little Hyundai sedan could manage a commendable 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg at highway speeds. Moreover, even the range-topping Limited starts at under $21,000; the Accent is a staple in affordability. Also, Hyundai’s 5-year, 60,000-mile warranty is peace of mind compared to the industry standard of around three years and 36,000 miles.
However, none of these qualities could save the Accent from being discontinued. Sales dictate whether or not a car survives, and the Hyundai Accent’s figures were less than successful.
Why is Honda discontinuing the Insight?
The Honda Insight is not quite as handsome as the redesigned Civic, but it does offer impressive hybrid fuel economy. Unfortunately, Car and Driver says Honda is discontinuing the fuel-efficient car to make room for the new Honda Civic Hybrid. To its credit, the 2022 Honda Insight manages 55 mpg city and 49 mpg at highway speeds.
Moreover, the EX trim starts at around $26,855, making it an affordable option for potential owners who want a sedan with a hybrid powertrain.
Are they still making Chevy Spark?
Chevy will discontinue the Spark hatchback by 2023. According to Forbes, the last Sparks will roll off the line in Fall 2022 due to dwindling sales. That’s a shame, too; starting at around $14,595, the Chevy Spark was one of the cheapest cars on sale in the United States. Also, the 2022 Chevy Spark manages about 33 mpg combined, so the savings continue at the pump.
Of course, the Spark did have its shortcomings. For instance, the tight rear seating arrangement made putting adults in the tiny car a chore. However, the cheap starting point, decent economy, and generous standard features made the Spark a bargain.
Is the Toyota Avalon Hybrid one of the fuel-efficient cars getting discontinued for 2023?
The Toyota Avalon Hybrid will disappear as quietly as it arrived; Toyota will discontinue the Avalon, including hybrid trims, by 2023. Unfortunately for potential owners, the Avalon’s demise removes a staple in affordable luxury from the market. The 2022 Toyota Avalon Hybrid XLE achieves around 43 mpg city and 44 highway. That is much more efficient than large car segment competition like the Dodge Charger and Nissan Maxima.
Moreover, the Avalon features top safety scores and many standard safety features, like a pre-collision system. While the 2022 Toyota Avalon’s starting price of $37,920 is a steeper initial ask than a comparable Nissan Maxima, the Avalon is more efficient, luxurious, and safer. However, Toyota is discontinuing the plush Avalon in favor of the upcoming Toyota Crown.
