The Honda Accord has been a staple in the midsize sedan market for decades, and it doesn’t look like it’s dying out any time soon. In fact, the Japanese automaker completely redesigned the Accord for the 2023 model year. Here are four of the most important updates that you need to know.

1. The 2023 Honda Accord has a new infotainment system

Gone is the standard 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in all models. The 2023 Honda Accord instead comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen on the lower trim levels and a 12.3-inch on the higher trims. It looks like Honda wanted to stay competitive with other brands in the market, which is a necessary move considering many buyers put tech features high on their list.

2. Honda updated the Accord with a dual-motor hybrid system

Sadly, the 252-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter powertrain is no longer available for the new model year. Honda chose to focus on fuel efficiency over power this time around. As such, it beefed up the Accord Hybrid’s powertrain with a dual-motor setup that features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a dual electric motor setup. This new configuration produces 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque (15 more lb-ft than the outgoing model).

Honda says the new hybrid powertrain is “more responsive and significantly more refined at highway speeds.” We look forward to the fuel efficiency ratings at a later date, but we’re sure they will be impressive.

If you’re wondering, the base turbocharged 1.5-liter engine is still around on the lower trim levels (LX and EX). So if you’re not into hybrids, this is the one to get. It still produces the same 192 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque as the last model.

3. There’s new driver safety tech

Honda knows that safety is uber important for most drivers, so it upped the Accord’s game in that department. There’s a new wide field-of-view camera (90 degrees) and radar (120 degrees) up front, which help to better detect pedestrians, lane lines, curbs, bicycles, and road signs.

The blind spot monitors have a wider range (82 feet), and the traffic sign recognition and traffic jam assist features are now standard. Additionally, the highest Touring trim level has a low-speed braking control with forward and reverse automatic braking.

4. The Accord is longer and has a new look

At 195.7 inches, the 2023 Honda Accord is 2.8 inches longer than before. As CNET notes, that added length accentuates the car’s elongated hood and fastback silhouette. Speaking of the Accord’s looks, the car now has narrower headlights and an upright front grille.

In the rear, the Accord has wraparound LED taillights and an overall smoothed-out style. It’s clear to see that Honda played it safe with the Accord’s styling, but the new look should age well and make it competitive with rivals from Nissan and Toyota.
