Despite their high price tags, luxury cars are some of the most reliable vehicles you can buy. True, these cars are made with high-end mechanical components that may be expensive to purchase and replace. Luxury cars also come with more technology features, some of which are prone to occasionally glitch. With regular service appointments, luxury cars can last for several years without needing major repairs. Here are four of your most reliable luxury cars.

4. BMW 5-Series

According to CarVertical, reports show that BMW 5-Series sedans without diesel engines have reliability ratings of nearly 97%. In addition to their dependability, the latest models offer a broad lineup of turbo-four and V8 engines. Power outputs range from 248 hp on the base model to 627 hp from the BMW M5 CS.

The M5 trims require less than four seconds to reach 60 mph. The BMW 5-Series also has a PHEV variant with 21 miles of electric range. Regardless of which powertrain you choose, all these sedans showcase comfortable ride qualities.

An adaptive suspension is available on higher trims and a sport-tuned one for the range-topping M5 CS. For the 2021 model year, all BMW 5-Series sedans were refreshed with improved seating materials and some upgraded tech features. 

3. Volvo S90

The newest Volvo S90 models are reportedly the most reliable, though they’re more expensive than most midsize luxury sedans. The base model starts at $57,000, and the hybrid Recharge costs a minimum of $70,500. However, even the gas-only S90 is efficient thanks to its standard mild-hybrid powertrain.

This engine is turbocharged and supercharged, capable of 295 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It makes 23/32 mpg city/highway, while the hybrid version manages 29 mpg combined city/highway. It also offers 38 miles of range; both models come with standard AWD.

Each Volvo S90 offers two rows of luxurious seating, and you can opt for Nappa leather on higher trims. The infotainment system runs with a familiar Google interface, but its abundance of menus might be difficult for some drivers to master. While its physical control buttons are small, they appear to be durable.

2. Lexus ES

The Lexus ES is nearly $13,000 cheaper than the Volvo S90, though its base engine only makes 203 hp. It also comes with AWD, but the athletic 350 models are FWD-only. These have 302 hp on tap and better acceleration.

Both are also available in Sport variants, featuring performance suspensions and sports seats inside. Fully-loaded Luxury trims stay within the $50,000 range, with several useful convenience and safety features. 

Despite its technology offerings and drivetrain enhancements, owners report that Lexus ES repairs are few and far between. Oil leaks and GPS issues are reportedly the most common, neither of which are expensive to fix. Each new ES model also comes with one year of free maintenance from Lexus.

It’s worth noting that the Lexus ES also offers an above-average (by luxury standards) powertrain and basic warranty coverage. The powertrain warranty lasts for 70,000 miles or six years.

1. Lexus GX: highly ranked among the most reliable luxury cars

This SUV frequently gets perfect reliability ratings from Consumer Reports, and even the base trim comes loaded with many features. Its impressive dependability is reassuring since the GX shows great off-roading potential. Unfortunately, the Lexus GX doesn’t have the best engine compared to its rivals. 

Its sole V8 only makes 301 hp and gets an estimated 16 mpg combined city/highway. However, it still has a spacious interior and adequate cargo space. Classy interior styling elements include leather seats in many colors and wood trim.
