Are you considering buying either the Honda CR-V or the Toyota RAV4? The two models are leading choices for the compact crossover SUV segment. However, the CR-V has some advantages in its favor. Here are four reasons to buy a 2022 Honda CR-V, not a 2022 Toyota RAV4.

The first reason to buy a 2022 Honda CR-V instead of a 2022 Toyota RAV4 is the CR-V provides more interior space than the RAV4. While both crossover SUVs can seat up to five passengers, the CR-V has a total passenger volume of 105.9 cu-ft, compared to 98.9 cu-ft for the RAV4. 

For the front seats, the CR-V has 41.3 inches of legroom, compared to 41.0 inches for the RAV4. The difference is even greater for the rear seats, though. The CR-V has 40.4 inches of rear legroom, compared to 37.8 inches for the RAV4.

Also, the CR-V provides more storage space than the RAV4. With the rear seats in the upright position, the CR-V has a cargo capacity of 39.2 cu-ft, compared to 37.6 cu-ft for the RAV4. With the rear seats folded down flat, the CR-V provides 75.8 cu-ft of storage space, compared to 69.8 cu-ft for the RAV4.

The second reason to buy a 2022 Honda CR-V instead of a 2022 Toyota RAV4 is the CR-V is safer than the RAV4. A highly respected entity for automotive safety evaluations is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Unlike the RAV4, the CR-V earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award. Also, unlike the RAV4, the CR-V has a cross-traffic alert driving assistance feature.

Also, a reliable vehicle results in less hassle and expenses from not needing as many repairs. For J.D. reliability ratings, the CR-V earned a score of 84/100, compared to 81/100 for the RAV4.

The fourth reason to buy a 2022 Honda CR-V instead of a 2022 Toyota RAV4 is the CR-V has a more upscale cabin than the RAV4. Compared to the RAV4, the CR-V features a greater use of premium materials. Also, the ergonomically-designed seats in the CR-V are comfortable for long drives.

In making a buying decision between the 2022 Honda CR-V and the 2022 Toyota RAV4, the CR-V has multiple advantages in its favor. This includes more interior space, safety, reliability, and a more upscale cabin.
