Yes, the Ford F-150 Limited is expensive. But this truck is far more than the sum of its parts. It’s hard to say if it’s better truck than a Platinum or a King Ranch. But, we can say it’s very nice. The competition is also getting fierce for the Limited with the new Capstone Toyota Tundra, and top-line versions of the Ram, the Denali trim in the GMC Sierra, and the new Platinum Nissan Titan. However, the Limited has pretty much every option you can imagine, and some you probably haven’t, like a subwoofer that’s mounted to the outside sheet metal, and seats that fold totally flat. Think of it like a Navigator with a bed.
The F-150 Limited is still and F-150
Ford has a long tradition of taking basic vehicles and then stripping them of that basicness to turn them into something entirely different. Take the Mustang, which starts at $27,470, and the Mustang Shelby GT500 which starts at $79,420. They’re the same car. Except they’re not.
The main points of the F-150 are well-known. It’s the best-selling vehicle in North America of any kind because it can tow, haul, and more. For 2022 (if you can find one) and 2023, The Limited F-150 comes standard with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, but the hybrid system makes it the most powerful F-150 with 430 horsepower is optional.
The seats are ahh-mazing
The seats in the 2022 Ford F-150 Limited fold flat. Ford calls them Max Recline and they fold all-the-way flat. You can actually sleep in the truck, if you need to. The bottom cushion folks to meet the backrest so there’s not even a gap between the two cushions. And, they’re heated, cooled, and massaging, so you can drift off to sleep in ultimate comfort. The seats are unique, too, from any other F-150. They have four-way adjustable headrests, and the driver’s seat can move in 10-ways.
The stereo is bonkers
The standard stereo is bonkers in the Limited. The B&O Unleashed system has speakers not just in the doors and dash, but the headliner and front headrests. It has a total of 18 speakers powered by 1,080 watts. It has a subwoofer that mounts to the sheet metal and vents to the outside air, so it saves space.
The Unleashed system is an option on Lariat and King Ranch, too.
The tires are one secret to its great handling
The Limited is known to be the best handling F-150 on the street, where most trucks live. The magic to its great handling? Tires. Yes. The F-150 Limited has 22-inch wheels with 275/50 tires. That’s the size of wheel and tire that you’re more likely to find on a Corvette than a truck. On most trucks that have 22-inch rims, you’ll see 33-inch-tall mudders, not high-performance tires with a one-inch-tall sidewall.
All of the technology that can even power your party
It would probably be easier to list the Ford tech that the Limited doesn’t have than what it does. The big news for Fords is that you can order Pro Power Onboard on the Limited with the hybrid. The system uses the hybrid batter to provide household power to things like power tools or tailgate party gear. It also has pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise control, pro-trailer backup assist, and a blind spot information system. The Limited has Ford’s 360-degree camera and a rearview camera with dynamic hitch assist, and Ford’s Blue Cruise is also an option.
