Porsche lovers used to turn to the 911 for their car needs, but that’s changed in recent years, thanks to the Taycan. Both stellar cars have those classic Porsche looks that make them unmistakable. The Taycan manages to shine just a little brighter, however.

Lower MSRP

For many Porsche lovers, it’s not so much about looks but more about the budget. It’d be awesome to drive on the lot and pick whichever Porsche you want, but with rising prices, it’s essential to focus on what you can afford. That said, according to The Car Connection, the Taycan costs $27,600 less than the 911.

The Porsche 911 has an MSRP of $121,300. That costs more than some people’s homes. On the other hand, the Taycan is still on the expensive side, costing around $93,700. 

If you’re making monthly payments, you’re looking at about $2022 a month for the 911—the Taycan costs around $1562, which is $460 cheaper monthly. 

More fuel-efficient

Speaking of prices, the Taycan will save you money at the pumps. This is because it’s electric, meaning you don’t have to worry about stopping to fill up.

The EPA hasn’t released the official specs, so we don’t know the range just yet. But the fact that you don’t have to pay close to $5 a gallon is a definite plus regardless of range. It’s expected to have a 215-mile battery range.

On the other hand, the 911 gets 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. That’s the range most trucks get, not convertibles. 

More space

It’s always fun to jump in a sports car and head off on an epic road trip. Until you realize there’s no cargo space. The 911 is no exception to this. Even though it sits up to four passengers, those in the backseat aren’t going to have much room. However, the seats are comfortable. If you’re trying to stick anything in the trunk, you only have 4.6 cu-ft. 

The Taycan has far more room. There are 15.8 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seats and 42.8 cu-ft with the second row folded down. This makes the Taycan the ideal vacation vehicle if you can find enough charging stations.

More versatile

Two-door vehicles are fun. What they aren’t is versatile. Anyone who has struggled to get groceries in the back after filling up the trunk knows just how true this is for sports cars. 

If you have passengers in the back, then things get interesting. Whoever sits in the front passenger seat will have to get in and out to let whoever is in the back out. The driver may have to get also, unless someone is going to crawl across the seat.

The four doors on the Taycan make getting in and out easier. All you do is open the door and hop out. No more waiting for someone to get out, lower the seat, and crawl over the front seat before you can step out of the vehicle.

Also, despite being a bigger vehicle, the Taycan is still fun to drive. The 911 comes equipped with a Twin Turbo Premium Unleaded H-6, which generates 379 hp. The Taycan comes with an electric engine that produces 375 hp. 

Both are AWD. The 911 can go from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds, while the Taycan does it in 3.7 seconds. Even though the 911 might be .5 seconds faster, it’s hard to overlook all the other benefits the Taycan brings to the table.
