The Toyota name has long been associated with hybrid vehicles. The Prius is one of the earliest hybrids to become a household name, and Toyota offers hybrid versions of many of its iconic vehicles. However, some of Toyota’s hybrids might even come as a surprise to you. Here are four Toyota vehicles you probably didn’t know came as hybrids.

Toyota Sienna 

The Toyota Sienna is a minivan that hides a few secrets. Its style more closely resembles an SUV than a minivan. Still, it retains eight seats to make it a practical minivan for larger families or other drivers who frequently have several passengers. Another surprising detail of the Toyota Sienna is that all models of it are hybrids.

The base model of the Toyota Sienna is the front-wheel drive LE, and Toyota states that it has a starting MSRP of $35,385. According to Edmunds, this hybrid Toyota minivan is powered by a 2.5-liter, 16-valve inline-four engine, and its hybrid system produces 245 horsepower. As hybrids are fuel-efficient, the redesigned Toyota Sienna is estimated to get 36 mpg in the city and on the highway.

Toyota Tundra

Toyota’s signature full-size pickup, the Toyota Tundra, has a reputation for being a durable and versatile truck. Still, it is typically not thought of as fuel-efficient or a hybrid. While it is true that the base trim model is a gas-only truck, some higher trims of the Tundra have a hybrid setup. The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is a hybrid pickup with a boost in horsepower and torque compared to the lower Tundra trims.

According to Toyota, the Tundra TRD Pro is equipped with a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 and an electric motor that gives it an extra 48 horsepower. Edmunds indicates that the Tundra’s hybrid setup gives it an overall 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, this hybrid setup does not significantly alter the Tundra’s mileage, though, as it gets 18 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. The standard Tundra gets 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Drivers interested in the Tundra TRD Pro should also expect to pay quite a bit, as the truck has an MSRP of $68,520.

Toyota Highlander

If you’re in the market for a three-row SUV that’s also a hybrid, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid should not be overlooked. It offers the same practical benefits as a standard Highlander and added efficiency of a hybrid. According to Edmunds, the Highlander Hybrid includes a 2.5-liter inline-four engine, and its hybrid setup gives it 243 horsepower. Toyota states that the Hybrid SUV can get 36 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid also comes standard with tech features for both safety and entertainment. Advanced safety features include blind spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning. For multimedia, the Highlander Hybrid is equipped with both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The base model, the Highlander Hybrid LE starts at $40,220.

Toyota Sequoia

For the 2023 model, Toyota’s full-size SUV has undergone a fairly substantial change. It is now only available as a hybrid, which means that the Sequoia may gain some fuel efficiency. According to Toyota, standard Sequoia models come with a twin-turbo V6 hybrid setup that produces 437 horsepower. In terms of estimated mileage, Toyota states it can get 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. 

As a full-size SUV, the Toyota Sequoia does not come cheap. The base Sequoia SR5 starts at $58,300, and the top trim level has an MSRP of $70,900.
