No surprise here. Even the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcats are faster than a new Ford Mustang GT. This monstrously heavy muscle car produces 707 horsepower, which bumped up to 717 in later versions. The result of all that power is a 3.6-second sprint to 60 mph on its way to an 11.2-second quarter mile. Compared to the Mustang GT’s low four-second range to 60 mph, that is seriously fast.
How fast can a Chevrolet Camaro SS go from 0 to 60?
The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS might be pushing half a decade in age, but it holds up in swiftness. Chevrolet says that it could hit 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds flat at the time of its release. That’s quick enough to outrun a new GT, if not fast enough to overtake a 2018 Mustang GT Performance Pack, which posted a time of 3.9 seconds. Better yet, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) says that you can snag one for a fair purchase price of $33,837.
What is the Scat Pack 1320?
You’ve heard of the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack, but you may not have heard of the Scat Pack 1320. Dodge took its 485-horsepower, naturally aspirated retro street rod and set it up for drag racing dominance. The Mopar mad scientists took drag racing parts from the SRT Demon and applied them to an upcharge Drag Package to accomplish the task. Also, KBB says you can snag this Challenger and its 3.9-second sprint to 60 mph for a fair price of $40,099.
Is the Shelby GT500 one of the used muscle cars faster than a new Mustang GT?
OK, snagging a Shelby GT500 might set you back more than a brand-new Ford Mustang GT, but it’s probably worth your consideration. First, the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 produces 662 horsepower courtesy of a supercharged 5.8L V8, which is over 200 more than a new GT. Also, the GT500 can blast to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, making it quite a bit quicker. Finally, with a Shelby nameplate, the GT500 is much more collectible than a commonplace GT.

The list doesn’t have to stop at these cars. A Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat shares the volcanic supercharged V8 with the Challenger SRT Hellcat, but it has four doors for a modicum of sedan practicality. Furthermore, older iterations of the Shelby GT500 still produced over 500 horsepower, and the two-year run of the S550 Bullitt Mustang resulted in some Dark Highland Green homage cars with 480 horsepower.
