When it comes to sporty luxury sedans, there are no better options than the 2023 Acura Integra and the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. Both cars offer exciting front-wheel drive performance and a good amount of practicality for under $40,000. Shopping for a Jetta GLI is a little easier, though, as it’s only available in one trim level.

Additionally, the Volkswagen Jetta GLI has more power than the Integra and costs less. However, shopping for one of these cars is not just about performance and price. There are other factors to consider. Here are four ways the 2023 Acura Integra could be a better pick than the Jetta GLI.

1. The 2023 Acura Integra offers more cargo volume than the Volkswagen Jetta GLI

Luxury shoppers looking for a car in the compact class likely have a need for practicality. Fortunately, the 2023 Acura Integra has a hatchback body style with plenty of cargo volume. Its trunk area measures 24.3 cubic feet compared to the Volkswagen Jetta’s 14.1 cubic feet. The rear seat back can also be folded for more room, which makes the Integra better for road trips and errands.

2. The Acura Integra has a more handsome interior than the Jetta GLI

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it’s still easy to see that Acura spent a lot of time on the Integra’s interior. The car’s interior has a unique look filled with soft-touch materials, retro-styled mesh grilles, and easy-to-reach knobs and buttons. The Jetta’s interior looks great as well, but it doesn’t have the same pizzazz as the Integra’s, at least in our eyes.

3. The Acura has a better powertrain warranty

Both cars come with the same basic warranty coverage of 4 years/50,000 miles. But the Acura Integra has a better powertrain warranty lasting six years or 70,000 miles. The Jetta, on the other hand, is only protected for four years or 50,000 miles, which is a huge difference.

4. The Integra has a couple more safety features

Both the Integra and Jetta come standard with common safety features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert, but the Acura has a little more. They also have stability and traction control. However, the Integra also comes with a few more features, like a rear parking aid, traffic sign recognition, and a head-up display.

2023 Acura Integra vs. Volkswagen Jetta GLI: It’s not just about performance

Although it’s easy to compare both of the sport compacts in terms of their performance and pricing, those aren’t the only two factors. The Acura has the Volkswagen beat when it comes to practicality, safety, and a warranty. All of which are important when it comes to long-term ownership.
