43,000 Toyota Sequoias are being recalled with tow hitch problems
If you have a large family and the need for towing then you probably like large SUVs. However, the Toyota Sequoia is currently one burly beast facing a significant problem. It’s under recall due to tow hitch problems.
Recall alert for the Toyota Sequoia due to separating tow hitch covers
If you use your Toyota Sequoia for towing then it might be time to visit a dealership. Roughly 43,400 Sequoia models from 2023 and 2024 are being recalled due to separating tow hitch covers.
According to Toyota, the resin tow hitch cover may separate from the rear bumper of the Sequoia while driving. This could become a road hazard and increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
If your Sequoia model is involved then you will be notified via mail by late October. Toyota advises owners to remove the covers until they can be repaired.
You will have to visit a local Toyota dealership for service. A Toyota technician will replace the resin tow hitch cover with an improved cover.
For more information or to see if your Toyota Sequoia model is at risk, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site. You will be prompted to enter your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N) or license plate information.
