Considering the type of performance it puts out, the Civic Type R is a steal at $44,390. However, dealership markups boost that price, so be sure to shop around for a decent deal.

2. (Affordable) 2023 Hyundai Elantra N — $34,015

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra N is the track-tuned version of the popular commuter sedan. It has plenty of power and handling chops for pro drivers on the track, but it’s also great for novices. Road and Track states, “The rear end is designed to rotate, giving beginners and veterans alike the means to push their skills on the track.”

3. (Affordable) 2023 Toyota GR Corolla — $36,995

If you want the practicality and reliability of a Toyota Corolla, but need a lot more oomph from it, check out the GR Corolla. This hopped-up hot hatchback has over 300 hp, an adjustable AWD system, and a six-speed manual. Like the Civic Type R, the GR Corolla is a bargain if you can buy it at the MSRP.

4. (Affordable) 2023 Acura TLX Type S — $56,774

The 2023 Acura TLX Type S is the epitome of what a sensible sport sedan should be. We spent some time in the 2022 model and were impressed with its strong twin-turbocharged engine, spry handling characteristics, and comfortable interior. If you need four doors and want to go fast, the TLX Type S is worth a look.

5. (Affordable) 2023 Tesla Model 3 Performance — $55,630

Whether you like Tesla or not, there’s no denying that the electric car company can produce some fast cars. The Model 3 Performance is a prime example, as it can go from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.1 seconds. That’s fast. But what’s even better is that the Model 3 can also achieve over 300 miles of range on a single charge. Now, that is one hot sports sedan.

6. (Expensive) 2023 Porsche Taycan — $88,150

The Porsche Taycan is arguably one of the best electric cars on the road today, but it’s also one of the most expensive. For $88,000, you can get a 522-hp base model, but if you want the super-fast Turbo S model, which has 750 hp, you’re looking to spend well over $100,000.

7. (Expensive) 2023 Audi E-Tron GT — $106,395

The 2023 Audi E-Tron GT has the same architecture as the Porsche Taycan, but with a different flare. Audi put injected its own unique design inside and out, in addition to different driving dynamics. It’s quite the all-electric performer that’s great for the whole family.

8. (Expensive) 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio — $81,855

The 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia is an old platform at this point, but the high-performance Quadrifoglio is worth a look. It’s hard to argue with a practical sedan with a twin-turbocharged engine that puts out over 550 hp and a sporty suspension to match. Looking for pragmatism with a healthy dose of performance? The Giulia could be your answer.

9. (Expensive) 2023 BMW M5 — $111,895

If you want you and your family to be able to race down a dragstrip or tear up a racetrack with ease, the 2023 BMW M5 is a great choice. With up to 617 hp from a twin-turbo V8 and a race-tuned AWD system, the M5 means business on and off the track. Also, you don’t really need to include your family when racing, but you can since this car has four doors.
