One of the most reliable automakers today continues to be Honda. With a history of intrepid dependability, low costs of ownership, and minimal repair costs, it’s no surprise that so many consumers claim Honda to be their favorite brand. But out of all the reliable Honda models in the extensive portfolio of consumer favorites, which are the most reliable models?

Based on the data collected by RepairPal, several Honda models have above-average reliability. Not only are the costs associated with repairs low for Honda, but the severity and frequency of reported mechanical issues are also typically below average. So, if you’re planning on buying a Honda, these are the five best rated to consider first.

1. The Honda HR-V is one of the best Honda models in reliability

The Honda HR-V has the best reliability rating of all the Honda models in this RepairPal dataset. Earning a five out of five, it tops the seven subcompact SUVs running. While the average Honda repair cost is around $428, the average repairs for the Honda HR-V are only about $301.

Additionally, the studies show the severity and frequency of repairs experienced by HR-V owners are much less than others. The HR-V’s average costs are even more impressive than all subcompact SUVs, estimated at $466. And HR-V’s repairs cost less than half the average $652 that all vehicle owners spend annually.

2. The Honda Fit is an underrated option

The next Honda worth considering is the Fit. This subcompact car rates fourth out of 21 models in the segment. RepairPal gives it a 4.5 out of five, with its annual repair cost estimated at $390. That’s much lower than the average of others in its class, costing an average of $465. The severity of repairs for a Honda Fit is relatively low, while the frequency of trips to the mechanic is considered “average.”

3. The classic Honda Civic is naturally one of the best Honda models

You can’t have a Honda dependability list without the iconic and fan-favorite Civic. Coming in third among Honda models, the Honda Civic also earns a 4.5 out of five, coming in third out of a field of 36 compact car models. Annual repair costs are $368 for the Civic, much lower than the average $526 for all compact cars. The frequency and severity of reported problems are both low, making the Civic one of the most dependable Honda cars on the road.

4. It’s no surprise that the Honda Accord made this list

Another top contender on the list of Honda models to consider is the Honda Accord. Like its stablemates, the Accord earns 4.5 out of five in this RepairPal study. It actually ranks first out of all 24 midsize cars in the running. And it has an annual repair estimate of $400, which is still lower than the midsize car’s average repair cost of $526.

5. The Honda CR-V is an excellent option

The ever-reliable Honda CR-V is coming in at No. 5, but still well worth a look. It may come in fifth on the list of most reliable Honda models, but it ranks second out of the 26 compact SUVs in the segment. Owning a CR-V means expecting about $407 in estimated annual repair expenses. Considering the class average is $521, it’s definitely a better value proposition. And it’s still well below the average expenses for all vehicles collectively, again $652.

There’s no question that Honda makes some of the most dependable cars and SUVs on the road today. And a few other honorable mentions to consider that follow closely behind these five include the Honda CR-Z, the Honda Element, and the Honda Crosstour. If you’re going to be in the market for a new or new-to-you vehicle, and reliability and cost of ownership matter most, you won’t be disappointed with any of these Honda models.
