A hybrid or electric vehicle (EV) is a solid prospect in times of high gas prices and environmental concerns. Better yet, some of the longest-lasting hybrids will keep you on the road for well over 130,000 miles. In an iSeeCars study, several hybrids made the list of models with the greatest lifespans over the last 20 years. Here are five of the best hybrid cars for longevity, like the Toyota Prius and Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

  • Toyota Prius
  • Toyota Camry Hybrid
  • Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
  • Kia Optima Hybrid
  • Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

What hybrid will last the longest?

The Toyota Prius is the best hybrid car option for the highest potential lifespan. According to the iSeeCars study, the Prius is the longest-lasting hybrid of 10 hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs. The average potential lifespan for a Toyota Prius is 250,601 miles, around 5,000 more than the second-place Highlander.

Better yet, the Prius managed to secure the sixth spot overall on the iSeeCars longevity study. The Toyota model scored above the Chevrolet Tahoe and just below the GMC Yukon XL, both gas-powered SUVs. That’s good news for owners who want some serious lifespan out of their eco-friendly hatchback.

Does a Camry Hybrid last long?

Like the Prius, the Toyota Camry Hybrid lasts long in terms of average lifespan. The Camry returned an average potential lifespan of around 230,547 miles. As a result, the Toyota model has the number three spot among the best hybrid cars, hatchbacks, and SUVs for long-lasting ownership. However, the Camry Hybrid is dead last on the list of the 20 most popular models with the most extended potential lifespans.

Of course, many of the vehicles at the top of the list are conventional SUVs and trucks, like the Toyota Sequoia and Chevrolet Suburban. Not bad for a car with a complicated hybrid gas-electric platform.

How many miles can you get out of a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid?

The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is the third longest-lasting car of its kind in the longevity study. The four-door sedan has a potential lifespan of about 184,887 miles. While that’s around 45,660 fewer than the Camry, the Sonata still earns a spot on the list of the longest-lasting hybrids. However, the Hyundai model didn’t make the top 20 list overall.

How long will a Kia Optima Hybrid last?

The Kia Optima Hybrid is another of the top-performing vehicles on iSeeCars’ list of longest-lasting hybrids. Specifically, the Kia model has an average potential lifespan of around 183,632 miles. That puts the Optima in close competition with its Hyundai sibling, the Sonata. The Optima snagged the number five spot on the best hybrid car longevity list, just ahead of the Lincoln MKZ.

How long will a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid last?

A Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has an average potential lifespan of about 177,678 miles. Furthermore, the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid outperforms the only other American hybrid sedan on the list, the Ford Fusion. Of course, the Lincoln model returns a very similar average to the Fusion Hybrid, within 2,000 miles of each other.
