We test a lot of cars every year, which means that we get to experience a lot of different infotainment systems. Some of them are really good, while others leave much to be desired. Inevitably, they all do the same thing; they give the end user an informative and entertaining experience. Here are five of the best infotainment systems that we have experienced so far in 2022.

1. Toyota’s 14-inch infotainment touchscreen – 2022 Toyota Tundra

Toyota completely updated the Toyota Tundra for the 2022 model year. In addition to a host of exterior, interior, and engine revisions, the Tundra came with a larger 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The graphics are crisp and clear, and the menus are easy to use.

The most interesting part of the new setup is that there is no “home screen.” Instead, there are five different menus on the left of the screen that the user can go to. It’s a little weird at first, but it becomes intuitive once you get used to it. Overall, we enjoyed the large size and graphics that the screen had to offer.

2. BMW’s 10.25-inch infotainment screen – 2022 BMW X3

BMW’s iDrive system has always been known to be a pain. In the past, confusing menus and lackluster graphics made for a poor user experience. However, the 2022 BMW X3 that we drove came with an updated iDrive 7 system with a large 10.25-inch screen, clear graphics, and easy-to-use menus.

We were surprised at how easy it was to navigate and tap into the audio features and vehicle system settings. The best part of the system was the “gesture control” feature, which allows the user to make a series of hand gestures to control some of the audio functions.

3. Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen – 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

When it comes to infotainment systems, it’s hard to be the Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen. The Hyperscreen is a 56-inch screen that is comprised of three different screens – a 12.3-inch screen in front of the driver, a 17-inch infotainment screen in the middle, and another 12-inch screen in front of the passenger.

The middle screen is easy to navigate, although there is a bit of a learning curve at first. Fortunately, the home button makes getting to other menus really easy, and there are even voice controls to make the experience even easier. Saying “Hey, Mercedes!” and then a function is easier than fiddling with the touchscreen – especially while driving.

4. Genesis 12.3-inch touchscreen – 2023 Genesis GV60

Admittedly, the graphics and colors in the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the 2023 Genesis GV60 are rather drab. However, the system is really easy to navigate and swipe though. We didn’t detect too much lag when pressing on the icons and or toggling through the menus, so its functionality gets an “A” in our book.

5. Jaguar PIVI Pro 11.4-inch infotainment system – 2022 Jaguar F-Pace

We tested out the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace earlier this year and enjoyed its PIVI Pro 11.4-inch infotainment system. Much like the system in the Genesis, the PIVI Pro lacks attractive graphics or colors. However, its home screen functionality and smartphone-like interface. The availability of Amazon Alexa is an added plus.

There are plenty of other infotainment systems that we have tested this year, but these are five of the best ones. The main draw to each of them is their ease of use, graphics, and overall functionality. And while other infotainment systems come close, these five are some of the best you’ll find in new cars today.
