Drivers that want the finer things in life will find much to like about the 2022 BMW 3 Series. The entry-level 330i offers a host of standard features, including LED headlights, leather seats, and heated front seats, which is good for the wintertime. It also has plenty of safety features like a forward collision warning, automatic braking, and rain-sensing wipers.

As for the powertrain, the 330i is motivated by a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A rear-wheel-drive configuration is standard, but for an extra $2,000, buyers can get the all-wheel drive 330i xDrive, which we highly recommend.

2. 2022 Dodge Charger AWD

Whoever said that muscle cars aren’t good in the snow? No one, maybe. But if anyone did, they obviously have never heard of or experienced the 2022 Dodge Charger AWD. The all-wheel drivetrain is available on the base SXT and GT trims and not the higher Scat Pack and Hellcat trim. However, that doesn’t mean that the Charger is boring to drive.

Under the hood of both of the base trim levels is a 292-hp, 3.6-liter V6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine provides plenty of power for daily driving. The Charger is also safe with available blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, heated mirrors, and heated front and rear seats. The base Charger AWD may not be a Hellcat, but for around $35,000, it’s quite the traction-grabbing bargain.

3. 2022 Mazda3 AWD

The 2022 Mazda3 provides plenty of fun when you’re behind the wheel, but it also has plenty of grip on slippery roads. Unfortunately, you’ll have to opt for the higher-trim Preferred model on the non-turbo Mazda3 to get all four wheels to spin, but it’s worth it for around $26,000. The turbo models, on the other hand, come with AWD as standard.

In terms of safety, the Mazda3 boasts a standard LED head and taillights, rain-sensing wipers, and heated front seats – so it’s comfortable to drive around in the winter. As for its powertrain, th non-turbo Mazda3 is powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that pumps out 186 hp. That power routes through a six-speed automatic transmission and out to all four wheels.

4. Toyota Prius AWD

We’ll admit that the 2022 Toyota Prius AWD might not be a shining star on everyone’s shopping shortlist, but it has what most drivers need when the snow comes down. Three out of eight Prius trim levels are available with the brand’s e-AWD system. Under the hood is the same 121-hp 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain so buyers can expect the same 50 mpg fuel efficiency rating.

As for safety when driving around town, every Prius is outfitted with Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.0. This roster of safety features includes adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, a lane-departure alert with steering assist, and automatic high beams. While it may not be on the forefront of every car shopper’s mind, the Toyota Prius AWD is definitely worth a look.

5. Toyota Camry AWD

The 2022 Toyota Camry four-cylinder models are offered with all-wheel drive. In addition to maximum traction, the Camry AWD is outfitted with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. This roster of safety features includes adaptive cruise control, automatic headlights, and automatic emergency braking, which makes it one of the safest sedans you can drive in the snow.

The Camry is comfortable on the inside as well. Adding a $1,290 Cold Weather package adds features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated outside mirrors. Under the hood, the Camry is powered by a 2.5-liter engine that produces 202 hp, which is more than enough for around-town driving – especially when it’s snowing.
