Here are 5 of the Biggest Pickup Trucks Ever Made
It would seem there is a direct correlation between the size of the pickup truck and how cool people think they are. However, if that were how it worked, these five biggest pickup trucks would be the coolest thing east of the Mississippi.
In fact, like the Ford Ranger and maverick comeback, the small pickup trucks are having their day in the sun right now. As we know, bigger is not always better – but it is always bigger. So, let’s take a closer look at these big boys.
Ok, bad example. The Lamborghini LM002 is the coolest thing east of the Mississippi
The Lamborghini LM002 is one of the coolest 4x4s in the world. The LM002 is a perfect example of something that has become widely known because of its obscurity. Lamborghini making a pickup is kind of like Grey Poupon making ketchup; it doesn’t make a ton of sense.
Although the Lamborghini LM002 isn’t your typical Lambo, it is still a Lambo. Colloquially known as the “Rambo-Lambo,” the LM002 featured a 5.2-liter V12 engine similar to the Countach. According to TruckTrend, there was also an optional 7.2-liter marine V12.
Not only is the LM002 a fully legit Lamborghini, it’s also one of the biggest pickup trucks in the game.
Leave it to Hennessey to make a big truck bigger
Hennessey takes factory vehicles that are typically already insanely powerful and adds more insanity and more power. The Hennessey VelociRaptor is a perfect example of this madness they call business.
Hennessey took the already huge Ford Raptor, stretched it out, added a third set of wheels, and 300 hp. The VelociRaptor was unveiled at the 2017 SEMA show, and minds were blown. The 6×6 immediately sat among the God-Kings of the biggest pickup trucks, without question.
Something called the Apocalypse HellFire would be one of the biggest pickup trucks
The Apocalypse HellFire is yet another 6×6 monster. However, this time, it was built using a Jeep Gladiator. Apocalypse HellFire conversions are powered by naturally aspirated versions of the Chevy LS3 engine, making 500 hp.
If the “normal” version isn’t enough for you, the fine folks at Apocalypse also offer a 707-hp Dodge Hellcat-powered 6×6 with a full eight-foot bed. I guess if you need to haul serious weight and do it faster than chain blue lightning, then I guess you’ll need this giant pickup truck.
Don’t sleep on the OG Hummer H1
The Hummer H1 is one of the first of the biggest pickups that really hit the mainstream. Like the Lamborghini LM002, the Hummer H1 came from the Humvee designed for military use and was eventually offered as a civilian truck.
Of course, most of us think the giant four-door SUV rigs when we think Hummer, but it actually came in a two-door pickup truck configuration as well. This is like the precursor to the Hummer EV pickup truck that is set to come out sometime this year.
The International CXT is one of the biggest pickup trucks ever made
There are a few trucks like this one, like the Ford F-750, for instance. But, the International CXT is one of the biggest pickup trucks in the world. In fact, it belongs to a segment known as “extreme trucks,” as its name CXT (Commercial eXtreme Truck) would suggest.
This behemoth clocks in at 22 feet long and weighs over 14,000 pounds. It’s Detroit Diesel DT 466 I-6 inter-cooled turbo diesel engine makes 220 hp and 540 lb-ft of torque.
The International CXT has a 25,999-pound GVWR and a 42,000-pound GCWR. This is well into commercial license territory. Lastly, the International can carry up to 73 gallons of fuel and will burn a gallon of that every eight miles.
