5 Cadillac Escalade Alternatives That Aren’t a Jeep Grand Wagoneer
The full-size luxury SUV segment is a competitive segment with many great options, and the Cadillac Escalade is among them. The Escalade has a lot of tough competition, including the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, but luxury car shoppers may want more options than just those two full-size SUVs. Here’s a look at five full-size luxury SUV options that aren’t the Cadillac Escalade or the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
1. BMW X7
According to Edmunds, the BMW X7 is an excellent alternative to the Cadillac Escalade and is also slightly cheaper. The X7 starts at about $75,000 MSRP, while the Escalade starts at about $76,000. Both full-size luxury SUVs can seat up to seven people. That being said, the Escalade has more max cargo capacity. The BMW has 90.4 cu. ft. of max cargo space, while the Caddy tops out at 121 cu. ft.
Under the hood, BMW gave the X7 a 3.0-liter six-cylinder mild hybrid engine. It gets 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. That’s less power than the Escalade’s standard 6.2-liter V8, which gets 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Unsurprisingly though, the X7’s mild hybrid engine is more economical, as it gets 21 mpg combined. The Caddy only gets 16 mpg combined from its V8 engine.
2. GMC Yukon and Yukon XL
The GMC Yukon and its larger version, the Yukon XL, are also great alternatives. The Yukon can be more affordable, too, as it starts at about $54,500 MSRP. Additionally, it can seat up to eight people and has 122.9 cu. ft. of max cargo capacity.
The Yukon XL gets even more cargo capacity, as it tops out at 144.7 cu. ft. This means that both GMC SUVs have more cargo space than the Caddy. The GMC Yukon starts with a 5.3-liter V8, getting 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. That’s less powerful than the Escalade’s engine, and the Yukon only gets 17 mpg combined.
3. Infiniti QX80
The Infiniti QX80 luxury SUV starts at about $72,000 MSRP and seats seven people. It has a max cargo capacity of 95.1 cu. ft., which is much less than what the Escalade has. Infiniti gave the SUV a 5.6-liter V8, which produces 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. That’s less power and torque than what the Caddy gets. Additionally, the QX80 gets 16 mpg combined, the same as the Escalade.
4. Lexus LX
The Lexus LX will be more expensive than the Cadillac Escalade, starting at about $87,000 MSRP. The standard version seats five people but can seat up to seven with its other trims. The LX has a max cargo capacity of 71 cu. ft., which is much less than its peers.
Lexus gave the LX a 3.5-liter V6, which gets 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. That’s slightly less horsepower than the Caddy, but it’s more torque. Plus, the Lexus is more fuel efficient, with 19 mpg combined.
5. Lincoln Navigator
The Lincoln Navigator luxury full-size SUV starts at about $78,000 MSRP, making it a few thousand dollars more expensive than the Cadillac Escalade. The Navigator seats seven people and has a max cargo capacity of 103.3 cu. ft. That’s less cargo space than what the Escalade has, but it’s more than what many of its peers have.
Lincoln gave the SUV a 3.5-liter V6, which gets 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. That makes it more powerful than the Caddy. It’s also more efficient, as it gets 19 mpg combined.
