The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat added a nuclear option to the horsepower wars introducing a 707-horsepower muscle car to the segment. Since its 2015 debut, the Hellcat has gained power with a new 2023 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye producing a tire-vaporizing 797 horsepower. However, the soon-to-be-discontinued Mopar is traction-limited, meaning some lighter performance cars can outrun the brute. Check out a list of some of the more attainable vehicles that will outsprint Dodge’s supercharged cruise missile, like the 2023 Audi RS 3 and 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance.

What stock cars can beat a Hellcat?

Many cars can outrun the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat after extensive modifications or swelled six-figure starting prices, but these five cars will do it stock and out-of-the-box.

  • 2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE
  • 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
  • 2023 Audi RS 3
  • 2023 BMW M240i
  • 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance

It’s an eclectic group, but each of these cars has the potential to defeat a new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat or Hellcat Redeye in a sprint to 60 mph, the quarter mile, or both. Better yet, most of these options are cheaper than the brutish Mopar, with the Audi RS3 undercutting the Dodge model by around $7,345. Even the fully electric four-door Tesla Model 3 Performance starts at around $30,000 less than the supercharged SRT model and its $72,892 starting point.

Is a ZL1 1LE faster than a Hellcat?

Even with track work at heart, the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE accelerates faster than a Hellcat, beating the Dodge model to 60 mph by around 0.2 seconds. Specifically, the Hellcat Redeye’s 3.6-second sprint isn’t fast enough to contend with the 1LE’s 3.4-second dash.

Still, while the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat’s purpose starts and stops at smoky burnouts, disturbing the peace, and running the quarter mile, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE proves that muscle cars can work on the track, too.

Is a Shelby GT500 faster than a Hellcat?

The 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 outruns the Challenger SRT Hellcat on the track and the drag strip. The supercharged Shelby model will hit 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, per Car and Driver. Moreover, the GT500’s 11.3-second quarter mile is 0.5 seconds quicker than the Redeye.

Furthermore, with larger-than-life proportions and a supercharged V8 touting 760 horsepower, the GT500 is the closest thing to the Mopar monster on this list. However, with a carbon-imbued track package and aero aplenty, the Shelby is much more attuned to track work.

It’s not often that a rabid little sedan outruns a powerful coupe in drag strip domination. However, the 2023 Audi RS 3 will hit 60 mph in a blistering 3.3 seconds. Still, while the Audi RS 3 is quicker to 60, it matches the Hellcat Redeye’s 11.8-second quarter mile.

What’s more, the compact German street weapon has four doors for added convenience. As a result, the RS 3 is grippier in inclement weather, more practical in town, and out runs the brutish Mopar.

What is faster, an M2 or an M240i?

The inline-six-powered 2023 BMW M240i isn’t just faster than an M2; it’s faster than a new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The M240i will hit 60 in 3.6 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than BMW thinks the M2 will accelerate and 0.2 faster than the Hellcat Redeye.

Moreover, the 2023 BMW M240i xDrive features the automaker’s grippy AWD system. As a result, the lighter, more sure-footed BMW coupe is a much better daily driver in inclement weather than the brutish Mopar.

Can a Model 3 Performance beat a Hellcat?

Is it a surprise? Not really; the 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance’s instant command over its dual-motor 470-horsepower platform will understandably outrun the traction-limited Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Still, the Tesla Model 3 Performance’s 3.1-second sprint to 60 mph makes it the quickest car on this list.

Moreover, Tesla says the Model 3 Performance starts at around $40,490. That puts the thrust-happy EV at around $30,000 less than the tire-shredding 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
