Getting a good mileage range from an electric car is a concern many potential electric car owners face. There are some cars like Teslas that offer the option for an extended range, but at the end of the day you want to know you’re car is going to take you as far as you need to go without running out of energy on the side of the road – even if you forgot to plug it in last night. The good news is that on just one charge, these cars have a range of at least 250 miles, and some of them can even go further.

2020 Hyundai Kona Electric

You may be surprised to see the Hyundai Kona Electric at the top of the list – but really, I just couldn’t bare to start off with back-to-back Tesla models. The Kona was already a well-liked car with its traditional combustion engine, and the electric motor just makes it that much more modern. It barely eeks by to make the list, with an expected range of 258 miles of range.

2020 Chevrolet Bolt

The Chevrolet Bolt might not have started out as a popular option for an all-electric vehicle, but it’s only improving year after year. You can expect to go as far as 259 miles on a single charge, which doesn’t do much to exceed the Kona.

Tesla Model X

I guess we had to make it to the Tesla vehicles eventually, and we will start with the Tesla Model X. The Model X has a range of 258 miles, which isn’t an increase from the Kona or the Bolt, but you do get all of the fun Tesla features. If you want to pony up more money you can upgrade to the long-range version and get up to 328 miles on one charge.

Tesla Model 3

Tesla wouldn’t just give one car a responsible range while leaving the other cars in the dust, so next up is the Tesla Model 3 with a reported 250-mile range on the base model and up to 330 miles with the long-range option.

Tesla Model S

Another Tesla? Yes! Tesla seems to get one thing done really well, and that it’s electric range. Well, Tesla actually gets a lot of things right, and that doesn’t even bring into account all of the fun easter eggs Elon Musk has enabled in the Tesla cars. The base model Tesla Model S gets an estimated electric range of around 290 miles, while the addition of the extended-range option brings the expected range up to as much as 373 miles.

While it’s clear Tesla has something going on here with having a good electric range, some of the other cars on the list are just as affordable – or even cheaper. We are curious to see how electric ranges improve over the next few generations of electric cars, but for now, we are happy to be making it 250 miles and more.
