5 of Our Favorite Features on the 2022 Kia Sorento SX Prestige AWD
If you’re in the market for a three-row SUV, then I highly recommend the 2022 Kia Sorento. I had the pleasure of driving the top-trim Sorento SX Prestige AWD for a week and fell in love with its luxurious comfort and refined driving dynamics. Here are five specific features that I found to be my favorites.
1. The Bose premium audio system is sublime
The top-of-the-line 2022 Kia Sorento SX Prestige comes standard with an upgraded 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. The word “premium” is definitely spot-on as the sounds coming out of those 12 speakers was nothing but sublime. As per any Bose system, I could detect a lot of bass, however, the high and mid-range sounds can be heard clearly as well.
2. The amount of safety equipment on the Sorento SX Prestige is astounding
The Sorento SX Prestige comes with all of the safety features that Kia has to offer. Those features include a forward collision avoidance assist, a blind-spot warning, and a lane-following assist. However, opting for the highest trim will also give you the highway driving assist feature, a rear cross-traffic alert, and the nifty blind-spot view monitors that show up in the 12.3-inch driver display.
3. The Kia Sorento’s second-row captain’s chairs are a nice touch
While the 2022 Sorento can be configured as a seven-passenger SUV, the Prestige model comes with seating for up to six. That’s due to the second-row captain’s chairs, which provide occupants with a separate seating arrangement. This is good for any feuding siblings, friends, or acquaintances that just can’t seem to keep their hands to themselves.
4. The turbocharged 2.5-liter engine has plenty of power
The lower Kia Sorento trim levels come standard with a 191-hp 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that’s fuel-efficient, but a little lazy according to Kelley Blue Book. However, when you buy the higher trim Sorento trim levels, you’ll be treated to the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that pumps out 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. During my testing, I was pleasantly surprised at how much power the engine put out, even at a mile-high elevation.
5. The third row is cramped, but it’s nice that it’s standard
Speaking of seating configurations, the 2022 Sorento comes standard with a third-row seat. It’s easy to fold up and down and simple to get into. However, the actual seating area can be cramped for adult-sized passengers. Once you’re back there, however, you’ll enjoy your own cupholder, storage spot, and a USB port.
Favorite features in the 2022 Kia Sorento
While the 2022 Kia Sorento SX Prestige has definitely been one of the best SUVs I’ve driven all year, it’s these five features that really stole the show for me. Of course, there’s plenty more to love about this three-row SUV, including its price. The price as tested came out to $45,120, which I think is quite the bargain considering everything you get.
If you’re in the market for a three-row SUV, the 2022 Sorento is definitely worth a look. Be sure to check out the highest trim, it’s definitely worth the money.
