5 of Our Favorite Features on the 2022 Range Rover SE
We recently drove the 2022 Range Rover SE and came away completely impressed with it. Although it was the base model, the Rover SE came with plenty of unique features you won’t find in other luxury SUVs priced similarly. Check out five of the best features that we found.
1. The 2022 Range Rover SE’s third row is very accommodating
The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover SE has a long wheelbase, which provides plenty of leg room for second and third-row passengers. The third row is generous, but it’s still not super comfortable for adults taller than 5 feet, 5 inches. Kids will love it, though, and they will be very well-accommodated.
The Range Rover’s third row can fit up to two kids, and each will have its own cupholder, speaker, air vent, USB-C port, and seat heater. Now, that’s luxury.
2. The Range Rover’s second row is pretty luxurious
Considering the SUV’s third row is accommodating, you can expect that the second is better – it is. The second row sits three people across it and comes with its own vents, auto-climate controls, outboard heated seats, sunscreens, and a household plug. That means the second-row passengers will not only be comfortable, but they can also plug in a hair dryer to dry their hair on the go. That’s pretty convenient.
3. The turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine has plenty of power
At first, we weren’t sure if the Range Rover SE had enough power. The higher trim levels come with a 523-hp, twin-turbo V8 engine, which sounds fitting for an SUV of this size. However, after spending a week with the Rover SE, we think the 395-hp, turbocharged inline-six engine has plenty of power.
Some of that power is partly due to a 48-volt hybrid system connected to the engine. That hybrid system aids with the start/stop feature and provides some assistance when accelerating, which leads to better gas mileage.
Speaking of gas mileage, the EPA estimates that the base Rover SE should get up to 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. In our week of testing, we achieved an average of 18 mpg with a mix of city and highway driving.
4. Yes, there are seat massagers
We can’t have a list of our favorite features without mentioning the seat massagers. These aren’t just regular vibrate-your-back kind of massagers either; these ones get in deep. There are actual rollers in the seats that knead your back as you drive, and there are different settings. Ironically, they’re supposed to keep you awake, but we felt relaxed with them on a nap was almost in order.
5. The Meridian sound system is exquisite
We have a soft spot for premium sound systems, and the Range Rover SE did not fail to deliver. The base sound system is made by Meridian, which includes 13 speakers and a dual-channel subwoofer for 380 watts of audio exquisiteness. Every song sounded so crisp and clear that we didn’t feel the need to play around with the equalizer levels. We also liked the two speakers in the cargo tailgate, which makes tailgating possible.
Our favorite Range Rover SE features
As stated before, the 2022 Range Rover SE has plenty of features that set it apart from the rest. The big SUV is comfortable and powerful, but we like the little things the most. After all, who wouldn’t want to blow dry their hair in the back of a $108,000 car?
