5 of our Favorite Features on the 2023 Nissan Altima SR VC-Turbo
We spent a week driving the 2023 Nissan Altima SR VC-Turbo and enjoyed everything it offered. The midsize sedan was uniquely beautiful, had a spacious interior, and had a powerful engine. Although there was plenty of like about the Altima, here are five of the features that stood out to us the most.
1. The variable compression turbocharged engine is ahead of its time
Our 2023 Nissan Altima SR VC-Turbo tester was equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with variable compression. Not to get too technical, but the engine can vary its compression ratio – from 8:1 to 14:1 – to optimize its power and efficiency. It puts out 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque while averaging an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy rating of 29 mpg.
Our real-world testing averaged 29.2 mpg after a week of driving, which is on par with the EPA’s estimate. Kudos to Nissan for the engineering magic it put into this engine.
2. The all-new 12.3-inch touchscreen display is a welcome addition
The 2023 Nissan Altima offers a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the higher trim levels. The screen offers crisp and clear graphics in addition to fast scrolling and refresh rates. Overall, it’s a great addition to the Altima and makes the interior look high-tech.
3. The Zero Gravity front seats are supportive
A lot of science went into designing the front seats of the 2023 Altima, and we’re here for it. Nissan calls them “Zero Gravity” seats because they’re so supportive that you feel weightless when sitting in them. It’s true that they are indeed comfortable, but we still think they could use a little more thigh support.
4. The ProPilot Assist keeps the car centered and on the road
Nearly every new car on the road today has some form of driver-assist features that are usually grouped together. In the Altima, Nissan named the group of driver-assist features is called ProPilot Assist, and it mainly features adaptive cruise control and lane-assist to keep the car centered. Both functions worked well, and the car wasn’t ping-ponging back and forth between the lines as some cars do.
5. The 2023 Nissan Altima’s pricing makes it a great value
The 2023 Nissan Altima competes with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, but undercuts them both when it comes to pricing. The top-trim Accord Touring retails for $37,890, while the Camry tops out at $36,645. The Altima SR VC-Turbo, on the other hand, retails for $34,990, which is lower than both of its main rivals. Considering it has many of the same features as those two midsize sedans, we would say the Altima brings a lot of value to the table.
