5 Frustrating Ford Maverick Features That Drivers Hate
Some owners of the Ford Maverick aren’t blissfully driving off toward the sunset. Instead, they’re struggling with frustrating 2022 Ford Maverick issues that they can’t seem to ignore. But are the Maverick problems really that annoying?
Five frustrating 2022 Ford Maverick problems
We’ve spent time with the 2022 Ford Maverick and didn’t walk away with any frustrating complaints. However, some Maverick owners have spent months behind the wheel and can’t seem to get over a few minor issues.
The Daily MTB Rider has owned his Maverick XL for about four months now and mentions that he loves his truck. However, not everything is going smoothly because there are five features he can’t stand. Let’s see the big deal here.
1. The Maverick has a weird seatbelt reminder
When you start the 2022 Ford Maverick, a seatbelt reminder pops up, which is normal. You can either ignore the dings or put on your seatbelt and be good to go. However, once you put your seatbelt on, the icon turns green.
Driving off doesn’t make the green indicator go away, and apparently, that’s incredibly annoying each time you go somewhere. But you can click a button to the right to turn off the green symbol.
We didn’t find the green indicator to be very noticeable or annoying when we took the Maverick all over the Carolinas.
2. The Ford Maverick doesn’t automatically stay in Eco Mode
We can sympathize with this 2022 Ford Maverick complaint. Some drivers pick this truck to save fuel, so they want to use the Eco Mode every time they drive. However, the Eco Mode turns off when you turn the truck off.
That means you have to reselect Eco Mode each time you start the truck. Having to hit another button can be irritating when you’re ready to jump in your vehicle and go.
Typically, we enjoy the Sport Mode in most vehicles, and it can be annoying to reselect Sport Mode each time you start the car.
Once you stop to get groceries, gas, etc., the vehicle automatically switches back to Normal. Constantly having to change the settings is something we’ve been annoyed by.
3. The brake hold stays on
If you use the Ford Maverick’s brake mode, be sure to remember to disengage it. It will stay on after you turn your truck off. Then once you restart it, the brake mode will still be engaged.
It can be convenient when you’re in a drive-through lane or stop-and-go traffic because you don’t have to hold the brake pedal.
But if you forget that it’s on, then it can slow you down during turns or other traffic maneuvers. This seems like a personal problem, though. It’s not hard to remember to disengage brake mode.
4. The Maverick is noisy
According to Daily MTD Rider, the 2022 Ford Maverick makes a lot of weird noises. Early in the morning, when the radio isn’t on, he can hear the engine make an annoying whine. Also, the engine does wheeze a bit when you hit the gas.
But with the radio on, you don’t notice the low-pitched whine. The Maverick is pretty quiet at lower speeds, but road and wind noise does enter the cabin at highway speeds.
This could bother drivers, but the Maverick isn’t a luxury truck. It’s an affordable option, so we don’t expect it to be quiet. However, the engine could sound better.
5. The lack of cargo space
The last 2022 Ford Maverick problem involves the lack of storage space. The cup holders are small and can’t fit larger refillable bottles or drinks. Items in the sides of the door will move around as you drive.
You can purchase custom Maverick accessories if you need more storage solutions, but only enough space for regular-size water bottles come standard.
We do think that the Maverick could provide better storage solutions, but it’s a compact truck that’s making the most of its space.
These Ford Maverick complaints don’t seem like dealbreakers at all. They should be pretty easy to ignore, and there are excellent Maverick features that make up for them.
