Fun 2021 Ford Bronco Facts 

1. The Ford Bronco manual transmission 

The 2021 Ford Bronco has a 7-speed manual transmission that’s making people freak out. However, don’t get excited for the wrong reasons. A six-speed transmission is a little more nuanced than a five-speed one because it can help people drive at lower RPMs to save fuel. 

But the seven-speed transmission on the 2021 Ford Bronco isn’t for driving on the pavement. The 7th gear is a rock crawler gear. It is designed to help you handle low-speed high-torque applications, like climbing a sheer rock face. It’s above and beyond the typical first gear found in an average passenger car. 

The 7-speed manual transmission is paired with the smaller 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. You can upgrade to the 2.7-liter engine, but it pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Also, the manual transmission isn’t available on the Sasquatch package. 

2. The Ford Bronco is tough 

The 2021 Ford Bronco has a regular steel body to protect passengers. However, the doors and tailgate are made out of aluminum to take some excess weight away. But if you’re going to remove the doors anyways, then it’s good that they’re lighter. 

Now the sport tubes which you can think of like the roll cage are made of boron steel. This is a much more durable metal that’s also thinner, so it protects without being too large. They allow passengers to be protected with the ability to see out the top of the vehicle. 

3. The Ford Bronco has Jeep tires 

The Ford Bronco is going with the same type of Goodyear tires that the Jeep Wrangler uses. However, Ford mentioned that they didn’t want ‘WRANGLER’ stamped on the side of their tires, for obvious reasons. 

So, Goodyear decided to help them out and moved the Wrangler stamp to the inside of the tire. This way, when you walk up to your Ford Bronco, you don’t see the rival Wrangler name. The Wrangler tires are just your little secret. 

4. The Ford Bronco didn’t go with a solid axle

The Ford Bronco has a more modern suspension setup that doesn’t use the trusted solid axle setup for off-roading. This is to enhance the vehicle’s performance at high speeds since solid axles are prone to getting the death wobbles. 

With a solid axle, the straight axle in the steering box makes the steering dependent on your steer tire. So hitting rocks or other obstacles can make that tire go a little wonky. The independent front suspension should provide a bit more articulation and flexibility. 

5. The Ford Bronco is totally customizable 

When you order your 2021 Ford Bronco, you can build it pretty much however you want. Unless you want a manual transmission with the Sasquatch package, but hey, if you want a two-inch lift, then go for the sasquatch package. Also, if you want 37″ tires instead of 35″ ones, go for it.
