When shopping for a luxury car, it’s important to know what to expect from it for the years that you own it. Of course, no one has a crystal ball that can tell you whether or not the luxury car you want is going to be dead-on reliable. However, resources like Edmunds and J.D. Power work hard to find out whether or not a car is projected to be reliable. The following five cars are the least reliable luxury cars for 2022, based on a few reliable sources.

2022 Cadillac CT5

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 has plenty of poshness and performance, but it’s a little lacking on the reliability scale. The editors at U.S. News called it an “OK luxury car” due to its cramped backseat and low driver engagement. Regarding reliability, Repair Pal gave the CT5 a rating of 3.5 out of 5, which is average at best. However, there are many positive reviews from owners on Vehicle History, so that’s a plus.

2022 Volvo S60

The 2022 Volvo S60 is known for being one of the safest sedans in the market and provides plenty of comfort. However, its reliability ratings could be better. Repair Pal rated the Volvo S60 a 3.5 out of 5 for reliability, which is above average, but not as high as other luxury sedans in its class.

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a solid competitor for the Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack and the other best sports sedans on the market.

If you’re looking for the bottom of the barrel when it comes to reliable, compact luxury cars, then look no further than the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia. Interestingly enough, Consumer Reports gave the Giulia high praise for its performance and handling. The publication even noted that the “Italian sedan is brimming with style and character.”

However, iSeeCars gave the Alfa Romeo Giulia a 6 out of 10 for reliability, which is the lowest rating it gave in the Italian brand’s current lineup. Some of the most common issues reported on the Giulia include electrical issues, engine misfires, and anti-lock brake failures.

2022 Maserati Ghibli

Out of all the luxury mid-size cars, the 2022 Maserati Ghibli was rated the lowest in terms of reliability. This could partly be due to the fact that the Ghibli is essentially a parts bin of older Chrysler 300 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class chassis basics. Additionally, there are even smaller parts shared with the old Dodge Dart. It’s no wonder Fiat released the Ghibli as a “budget” Maserati, and its low-reliability rating shows.

2022 Tesla Model S

Interestingly, the 2022 Tesla Model S is one of the lowest-rated ultra-luxury sedans. Especially since the folks at iSeeCars rated it as one of the most reliable. But for this list, the Model S received low marks because it has eight open recalls and a weird yoke steering wheel that brings in major “compromises in usability, maneuverability, and comfort.”

The least reliable luxury cars

The luxury segment is filled with impeccable options befitting their high price tags. However, these five examples show that it’s a good idea to take a closer look at what you’re buying before you pull the trigger, especially when you’re shopping in the luxury car segment.
