In the past, driving a luxury car often meant sacrificing fuel economy. Often, luxurious vehicles like BMW, Lexus, and Audi models came with V8s, V10s, and even V12s. Naturally, with huge displacement and huge cylinder count comes tiny fuel efficiency numbers. However, a new age is here, and these five luxury cars give you the opportunity to cruise in luxurious style while retaining solid fuel economy numbers!

2022 Lexus ES 300h – 44 mpg

According to Carfax, the Lexus ES 300h is the most fuel-efficient luxury car on the market. Not only that, but it’s also the only luxury sedan that manages 40 mpg or higher. Certainly, that’s no small feat.

That being said, it’s still exceptionally well-equipped with luxurious interior features. It also has a remarkable ride quality. Finally, it comes with the legendary Toyota/Lexus reliability standard. So, overall, it makes for a fantastic luxury cruiser that saves money at the pump.

2022 Lexus UX Hybrid – 42 mpg

With a starting price of just $36,425, the 2022 Lexus UX hybrid is a remarkably affordable luxury SUV. In fact, it’s the cheapest new luxury SUV on the market.

While it isn’t the most powerful thing on the planet with its mere 181 horsepower offering, it’s a great step up from the ES for those that need a bit more room. Though, Carfax reports that the interior is rather small for an SUV.

2022 Lexus NX Hybrid – 39 mpg

The final entrant in the Lexus lineup is the NX hybrid. If the smaller SUV just won’t do it for you and you need a bit more space, this is your solution.

Again, Carfax reports that the NX hybrid’s cargo area is a bit small. However, for a family-friendly luxury SUV that gets 39 mpg, it’s hard to argue with the $39,025 price tag.

2022 Audi A3 – 32 mpg

Clearly, Lexus has the luxury cars and fuel efficiency balance down to a science. However, some other luxury entrants still manage to pull pretty decent fuel economy figures for what they are.

For example, the 2022 Audi A3 offers a remarkably roomy cabin for a compact sedan. It offers a 201-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes it exceptionally fun to drive. However, its mild hybrid system keeps fuel efficiency in check. The 2022 Audi A3 sees fuel economy numbers as high as 32 mpg.

2022 BMW 3 Series- 30 mpg

The final stop on this list is the 2022 BMW 3 Series. Of course, something in the upper-performance floors of the 3 Series corporate building won’t net you great fuel economy. Rest assured, you won’t see 30 miles per gallon out of an M3.

However, the base model 2022 BMW 3 Series does manage to just scrape by with EPA ratings as high as 30 mpg on the dot. In addition, you get a nice roomy cabin and a traditional upscale BMW interior.

However, Carfax reports that it’s not quite as fun to drive as the older 3 Series. Combine that with the fact that it’s nearly $6,000 more expensive than the Audi A3, and the choice starts to become clear.

You don’t have to suffer for riding in luxury!

Overall, engine technology has become more efficient over the years. That’s in both terms of fuel use and power output per liter. Yes, there is indeed a replacement for displacement. It’s called forced induction, sorry muscle car guys!

So, remember, if you’re shopping for a luxurious driving experience, you no longer have to worry about spending your life’s savings at the pump!
