The Cars.com American-Made Index is back and has even more cars, trucks, and SUVs than before. This ranking uses five criteria to determine the most American-made pickup trucks for 2022. The criteria are the assembly location, American parts content, engine/transmission origins, and U.S. manufacturing crews.

The Honda Ridgeline is the most American-made pickup truck for 2022

Cars.com says the Honda Ridgeline is the most American-made pickup truck for 2022. Coming in eighth on the list, above the 2022 Ridgeline, is mostly SUVs. Honda produces this pickup truck in Lincoln, Alabama, at the Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) factory. Honda also makes other vehicles at this factory, such as the Passport, Odyssey, and Pilot. The Ridgeline is the only pickup truck to make the top 10 this year.

The Ford Ranger is another most American-made pickup truck for 2022

The Ford Ranger slid into the top 20 of the most American-made pickup trucks for 2022. Ford builds the Ranger pickup truck in its production facility in Wayne, Michigan. Known simply as the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant, Ford also makes the Bronco SUV here. Ford has ramped up electric vehicles and trucks production lately, but the Ranger is still a popular truck for buyers.  

Ford builds the F-150 in two American facilities

Coming in at spot 21, the Ford F-150 moved up eight spots over the last year on the list of most American-made pickup trucks for 2022. Ford builds the F-150 in two places; the first is the Claycomo Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri. Ford also has the Dearborn Truck Plant in Dearborn, Michigan. This is now called the Ford Rouge Center and is in charge of building the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup. Ford has vowed to double production on vehicles like the Lightning after the automaker received more than 200,000 reservations for the electric truck.

Both the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado are American-made

The GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado pickup trucks are pretty much identical. GMC and Chevrolet build the Canyon and Colorado in Wentzville, Missouri. The Wentzville Assembly is also in charge of making the Chevy Express and GMC Savana full-size vans. The two trucks moved up a few spots over last year, too, but are still some of the most American-made pickup trucks for 2022.

Don’t forget the Toyota Tundra pickup truck

When it comes to the Toyota Tundra pickup truck, Cars.com placed it in 23rd place. That’s a drop of 13 places over last year, thanks to all of the newcomers. Either way, Toyota builds the Tundra truck in San Antonio, Texas. The Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) facility recently started production on the newly redesigned 2022 Toyota Tundra, which has kept it busy.

The most American-made pickup trucks for 2022 are good options for those who want a vehicle made in the USA. This list might change significantly in the next few years as the electric vehicle continues to grow in popularity.
