Like any other vehicle, pickup trucks are a reflection of their owners. And sometimes, owners want something unavailable from the factory. That’s where tuners and modifiers come in. Whether you’re after more horsepower or improved off-road ability, if you dream it, someone can build it. Here are five modified trucks you can buy right now.

American Track Truck Systems & Mattracks

A few years ago, both Nissan and GMC unveiled concepts intended to make conquering winter a little easier. Nissan’s Winter Warriors and GMC’s Sierra All Mountain concepts were equipped with snow tracks in place of normal tires. While these aren’t the most extreme mods on this list, these are extremely cool (pun sadly intended). They also don’t require extensive reworking of the truck you want them mounted on.

Both the American Track Truck’s system used by Nissan and the Mattracks used by GMC can be fitted to practically any truck on the market. They’re also road-legal (although not fast enough for highways). Even better, once the snow melts, you can re-mount your existing tires and wheels.

Hennessey Goliath 6×6

Unfortunately for us all, Mercedes-Benz doesn’t offer its ridiculously over-the-top 6×6 G-Wagen for sale in the US. Luckily, Texas-based tuner Hennessey Performance has stepped in to fill the void. For the buyers who think their new Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra just isn’t extreme enough, there’s the Goliath 6×6.

For $375,000 (which includes the price of the Chevy/GMC), Hennessey fits a whole extra axle—including Hennessey wheels, brakes, and BFG tires—lifts the whole truck by eight inches, and adds a customized bed. Doing all this also requires a new rear suspension system. Finally, Hennnessey upgrades the engine to deliver 450 hp, upgrades the rollbar, and fits new bumpers and LED lighting. There’s even the peace of mind of a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty.

Sadly, only 24 of these modified trucks will be made, so prospective owners will have to act fast.

Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6

But the Goliath isn’t Hennessey’s first foray into 6×6 trucks. That would be the VelociRaptor 6×6, based on Ford’s 2017-2020 Raptor pickup. And unlike the Goliath, Hennessey’s not planning on limiting production.

Similar to the Goliath, Hennessey gives the Ford Raptor an extra axle with all the necessary hardware, upgrades the Fox suspension, and adds in rollbar, LED lighting, and new bumpers. However, while the Goliath has to make do with 450 hp, the VelociRaptor gets 600, courtesy of Hennessey’s 600 Twin Turbo package.

While the $349,000 price may seem steep even for a modified truck, it does come with a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty. You can even order it directly from certain Ford dealers, making the whole process as easy as checking a box.

Hennessey Maximus 1000

Considering how thick the Jeep accessories catalog is, it may seem like owners wouldn’t have to go outside FCA to modify the Gladiator. But for all those options, there is one that you can’t get from the factory: the Hellcat supercharged V8.

Enter Hennessey’s Maximus 1000. For $200,000 it will install said engine into your 2020 Gladiator (price includes the cost of the truck). They’ll then, through ECU and extensive engine plumbing mods, make it develop 1000 hp. In addition, your $200 grand buys you a custom leather interior, new Hennessey tires and BFG wheels, a stainless-steel exhaust system, as well as LED lights and new bumpers.

But you’ll have to act quickly if you want one. Hennessey is only planning on making 24.

AEV Prospector XL Tray Bed

While the Ram 2500 is offered from the factory with an off-road trim in the form of the Power Wagon, that may not be enough for some owners. It wasn’t for American Expedition Vehicles President Dave Harriton, whose Ram 2500-based passion project proved popular with the public to become an official AEV product. The Prospector XL Tray Bed now serves as the pinnacle of AEV’s Ram-based Prospector line.

Compared to the base Ram 2500, AEV adds quite a bit. The bed is replaced with an aluminum one, and the suspension redesigned with custom Bilstein reserve-reservoir shocks and AEV’s High Steer Kit. AEV also fit a winch, a new hood (for better heat extraction), fender flares, and new wheels that can fit up to a 41-inch tire (hence the fender flares). The Prospector XL Tray Bed also comes with a stamped-steel front bumper that can accommodate the diesel engine’s extra cooling hardware, unlike the factory Power Wagon.

The conversion can be done to any trim level of the Ram 2500 Regular Cab Long Bed, with prices starting at $38,345. AEV offers a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty, and the conversion can even be ordered from select Ram dealers.
