5 Reasons to Buy a 2022 Audi Q3 Over a Volkswagen Tiguan
If you’re shopping for a small SUV, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan could end up on your shortlist. However, if you want a little more luxury, the Audi Q3 can provide that. The only issue is that it costs over $10,000 more for essentially the same car. In that case, is the Audi Q3 really worth that price premium over the Volkswagen Tiguan? Here are five reasons why it could be.
1. The 2022 Audi Q3 is available with a more powerful engine
The 2022 Audi Q3 comes standard with a 184-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. You’ll find the same one in every trim level of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. However, the Audi Q3 has a trick up its sleeve in the form of a larger and more powerful 2.0-liter engine. According to Audi, found in the Q3 45 trim level, the upgraded engine puts out 228 hp and can get the car to 60 mph from a standstill in just 7.1 seconds.
2. The Audi Q3 comes in a couple of funky colors
Do you like to think outside the bland color palette of silver, gray, and white? If so, the Audi Q3 has you covered with its funky colors. Unlike the Tiguan, the Q3 can be purchased in Turbo Blue, Tango Red Metallic, and our favorite, Pulse Orange.
3. The Q3 looks nicer than the Tiguan
Looks are subjective, but we prefer the Audi Q3’s sophisticatedly bold exterior looks over the Volkswagen Tiguan. Don’t get us wrong, the Tiguan still looks good. But we like the Q3’s single-frame grille, LED headlights, and bold fenders, which make it look like a baby version of the stately Audi Q8.
4. The Audi comes standard with Quattro AWD
The Volkswagen Tiguan is available with the brand’s 4Motion AWD system, but it only comes as an option. The Audi Q3 has a one-up over this with its standard Quattro AWD system. Admittedly, both system function similarly, but it’s nice that you get it standard with the Audi. Especially with its higher price tag.
5. The Audi Q3’s interior is better-equipped than the Volkswagen Tiguan’s
In its standard form, the Audi Q3 comes with leather seating, a tri-zone auto climate control, a power tailgate, a power panoramic moonroof, heated front seats, and a 12.3-inch driver information display. There’s also an updated 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Apple Carplay/Android Auto.
You can get many of those same features in the Volkswagen Tiguan, but the screens are smaller, and you’ll have to step up in trim levels to unlock a few others. In that case, the Q3 offers a little more for the money.
2022 Audi Q3 vs. 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan
If you’re looking to spend less than $30,000 on a small crossover SUV, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is a great choice. However, you’ll have to spend a little more than $30,000 to get many of the same features that are standard on the Audi Q3. In that case, you could be better off just going with the Audi from the get-go.
