5 Reasons the 2020 Lexus ES 300h Could Be the Perfect Car for Everyone
We spent some time with the 2020 Lexus ES 300h over the past week and have come up with one major takeaway: This car could be perfect for everyone. We thought of that because when it comes to car shopping, most prospective buyers are looking for a car that is comfortable, fuel-efficient, and has lots of room for passengers and all their stuff. Well, guess what? The Lexus ES 300h has all of that, although, its price could be a little bit of an issue for some.
The Lexus ES 300h is super comfortable
Needless to say, the Lexus ES 300h is likely one of the most comfortable cars we have ever driven. Which isn’t a surprise considering that luxury cars, in general, are supposed to highlight comfort, and Lexus products have always been the epitome of that. However, the ES 300 has a well-insulated cabin that’s whisper-quiet on the highway and its well-sorted suspension has a cloud-like comfort that makes even the roughest streets feel smooth.
The ES 300h is very fuel-efficient
The Lexus ES 300h is a hybrid that’s powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that paired with an electric motor for a combiner power output of 215 hp. That’s not super impressive, nor is the 8.3-second 0 to 60 time, according to Car and Driver. But what is more impressive is the ES 300h’s fuel economy ratings of 43 mpg in the city and 44 on the highway. That’s no lie, either, as our combined driving for the week resulted in an average of 46 mpg, according to the car’s on-board computer. Although, that computer could be lying, we’re sure it’s not too far off in either case.
There is a lot of cabin space
Sit inside the Lexus ES 300h and you’ll be treated to the plushness and opulence that would expect out of a luxury car. The leather seats up front have 10-way adjustability and wrap the coddle the driver and passenger in a supportive way, while rear-seat occupants are treated to ample leg and headroom for a pleasant ride experience, no matter how long the trip takes.
As far as cargo room, we like that the ES 300h has about 17 cubic feet of space, which is larger than rivals like the Volvo S80 and Acura TLX. But it also means that all of the passengers will likely be able to fit all of their stuff in there just fine.
It has an amazing audio system
Every Lexus ES model comes standard with the brand’s premium audio system with 10 speakers, however, in our tester, we were lucky enough to experience the upgraded Mark Levinson upgrade audio and navigation package. This package includes the 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a built-in navigation system, and the Mark Levinson PurePlay 17-speaker, 1800-watt premium surround-sound audio system that made just about every genre of music that we could throw at it sounded amazing. All of the highs and lows of every song came in crystal clear and if you ever plan on buying one of these cars, we can’t recommend this audio upgrade enough.
It’s somewhat affordable for a luxury car
Well, here’s the kicker. All of the luxury, comfort, and advanced audio does come at a price when selecting a Lexus ES 300h. The starting price for the base model car is $41,780, but with the option packages that our tester came with, the price shot up to $53,810. We admit that’s a lot of money to spend on a car, however, there are used examples on the market going for less. But if you can afford the price, regardless if it’s new or used, we would say that the Lexus ES 300h could be the perfect car for you.
