Sure, there are a lot of highly-anticipated EV SUVs on the way. But, the new Polestar 3 should top that list. Yes, it’s expensive at $83,900, and weird, and fast, but it’s also stylish, safe and new. If Polestar doesn’t ring any bells with you yet, the brand will soon as it’s the performance EV arm of Volvo.

The new 2023 Polsestar3 simply looks good

The new 2023 Polestar 3 SUV was just released, and it looks great. The styling of the new Polestar 3 certainly sets it apart from the rest of the SUV world, with a hood-mounted spoiler integrated into the headlights, a bold black trapezoid on the bottom, as well as rear aero blades, and a flat grille.

Though Volvo (which owns Polestar) is now owned by Chinese manufacturer Geely, the brand is leaning on its Swedish design heritage for the new SUV. It’s a mix of high-end Volvo and EV.

The new 2023 Polestar 3 has a stunning interior

Sure, Tesla pioneered the spartan dash in its EV cars and SUVs. But the Polestar 3 takes that to another level with a giant screen and huge horizontal A/C vent. The seats get covered in Nappa leather, and the screen is a massive 14.5-inch display that has Google built in. While the Cadillac Escalade hides behind wood and leather, this instead relies on design and simplicity to give it a luxury feel.

Polestar 3 gets Snapdragon technology

Dig inside the newest Android phones and you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Same thing for the Polestar3. These chips are known to be powerful, fast, and not use a lot of juice. Polestar promises that the chips will allow “immersive in-vehicle experiences,” and while we don’t know what that means, it sounds fun.

On a practical side, Snapdragon chips can help the Polestar3 have high-resolution screens, awesome audio, and connectivity.

It’s fast

Many EVs are rockets, thanks to the instant torque you get from an electric motor. The Polestar3 should be, too, with an expected 4.6-second 0-60 mph blast from the Performance Pack version, according to Polestar. The base dual motor version packs 489 horsepower, but the $6,000 Performance Pack bumps that to 517 horsepower. Polestar says it has a top speed as 130 mph.

First-year Polestar 3s get booming audio

First-year versions of the Polestar3 get the Plus Pack and Pilot Pack standard. That means that these 3s get a 25-speaker stereo with Atmos, soft-closing doors, an electric steering column, heated steering wheel and more. The Pilot Pack adds a heads-up display, parking assist, and more. Later, you can order the Pilot Park with LiDAR, which will “prepare for car for autonomous driving,” Polestar says.

One bonus reason: according to CNET, once production ramps up, it will be made in the U.S.

What other vehicles is Polestar planning?

Polestar has several vehicles on the horizon including a Polestar 4 and Polestar 5. According to Gear Patrol, the new Polestar4 will be the sedan version of the Polestar 3, which means more room and likely a handy hatchback, like the Polestar 2 sedan. The upcoming Polestar 5 should be an uber sedan that can take on the top from Mercedes and BMW. Then, of course, there’s the sporty, two-seat, Polestar6 roadster, which we can’t wait to see on the road.
