You’re not alone if you’re looking for a vehicle with a lot of cargo space. Consumers have an appetite for SUVs that can handle loads of equipment for daily use or weekend adventures. Large cargo areas are often a potent selling point, and automakers aren’t the only ones to publicize them. You’ll find in Car and Driver, MotorTrend, J.D. Power, and plenty of other automotive publications pieces about which vehicles have the most cargo space. According to J.D. Power, here are the five 2022 model SUVs with the most storage.

1.   GMC Yukon

The GMC Yukon is an undeniable giant, with options that can seat seven or nine passengers and a substantial amount of space for cargo. Behind the third row, there are 22.5 cu-ft. Fold that row down, and you’ll have 72.6 cu-ft of space to play with. Drop the second row, and you’ll have 122.9 cu-ft for equipment, luggage, or whatever else you need to carry.

Starting at $51,600, the GMC Yukon produces a respectable amount of power for a vehicle its size. There’s a base model 5.3-liter V8 engine that generates 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, as well as a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Generating less horsepower (277 hp) is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six, but you’ll also get 460 lb-ft of torque with this option.

The Yukon also comes well-equipped. Each comes with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, a 12.0-inch digital information cluster, and a six-speaker sound system. You’ll also get lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking assistance, adaptive headlights, and front pedestrian braking standard, with various entertainment and advanced safety system options available on higher-level trims or in accessory packages.

2.   Honda Passport

While it’s not a three-seater like the Yukon, the Honda Passport still boasts plenty of cargo space. There are 41.2 cu-ft behind the second row and 77.9 cu-ft when you drop that row down. With this much space, the Passport is one of the most sizable two-row SUVs on the market.

The 2022 Honda Passport starts at $37,870 and offers just one powertrain option. You’ll get a 3.5-liter 6-engine that produces 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Whether you opt for the standard FWD or optional AWD, your fuel economy numbers will range between 19-20 mpg in the city and 24-25 mpg on the highway.

The Passport comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen on all but the highest two trims, in which a 10.0-inch touchscreen is included. The Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety features is included as well.

3.   Kia Telluride

The Kia Telluride is well-known for being a spacious ride. According to J.D. Power, the 2022 model bolsters this reputation, offering 21 cu-ft behind the third row, 46 with the third row down, and 87 with both rows folded down. It may not provide as much as the GMC Yukon, but it has plenty of space for whatever you may need to transport.

Starting at $33,090, you’ll find your Telluride equipped with a standard 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine that produces 291 hp and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. FWD is also standard, but AWD is available for every trim.

The Telluride also has some great features, including a dual-zone climate control system, remote start, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, and a 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster display. The base model also comes with lane centering, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking, with more features available on higher trim levels.

4.   Lincoln Navigator

Another vehicle with a reputation for being a behemoth, the Lincoln Navigator’s three rows don’t prevent it from offering generous cargo space. Behind the third row is 19.3 cu-ft of space. Fold that row or both the second and third rows down, and you’ll have 57.5 or 103.3 cu-ft, respectively.

The 2022 Navigator also comes with a single powertrain: a 440 hp 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged engine married to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It comes in RWD or AWD and handles quite well for a vehicle its size. But not only is it a behemoth in size, but it’s also a behemoth price-wise, as the entry-level version starts at $76,710.

You’ll get a 13.2-inch display screen for infotainment with voice controls and navigation. There’s also a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5.8-inch digital display in the second row, and a rear seat entertainment system with a 10.1-inch screen in the back. The Navigator also sports plenty of safety tech that comes standard, from automatic emergency braking to pedestrian detection to parking assistance.

5.   Volkswagen Atlas

While the Volkswagen Atlas may not have been on U.S. dealers’ lots as long as some of the other models, it certainly makes an impression. This three-row SUV has plenty of cargo space, starting with 20.6 cu-ft behind the last row. With it folded down, there are 55.5 cu-ft, and with the second row down, too, there are 98.6 cu-ft of cargo space available.

The 2022 Atlas comes with two powertrain options, a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, and a 3.6-liter V6, producing 235 hp and 276 hp, respectively. Opt for the larger if you want to tow, as it’s rated for 5,000 pounds. The 2.0-liter can only haul a ton.

Inside the base model are a relatively small 6.5-inch touchscreen and an 8.0 instrument cluster. But there’s also a decent array of standard safety features like rear cross-traffic alerts and blind-spot monitoring. The Atlas starts at $33,335.

These five options have great potential if you’re looking for an SUV with loads of cargo room. But they’re also vehicles with considerably different features and price points. Take a close look at your commuting and hauling needs before settling for one model over the other.
