5 SUVs That Can Last 200,000-Miles and Beyond
Buying a new SUV can make for a pricey endeavor. The odds are then that you’re after an SUV that can go the distance. After all, who wants to spend a pretty penny on an SUV that can’t manage more than 100,000-miles? Fortunately, several SUVs can last 200,000-miles and beyond. Impressive, right?
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a long-lasting SUV that can manage way more than 200,000-miles
Now, when it comes to the longest-lasting SUV, that honor goes to the Toyota Land Cruiser. According to iSee cars, which analyzed over 15.8 million vehicles sold in 2019 to determine which have the highest percentage of vehicles that reached 200,000-miles, 15.7% of Land Cruiser models sold in 2019 were able to last for more than 200,000-miles. Compared to the segment average of 0.9%, that’s a pretty impressive figure. Add to that that 1.5% of Toyota Land Cruiser models are predicted to surpass the 300,000-mile mark? And there’s no denying that the Toyota Land Cruiser is an SUV that’s made to last.
The Toyota Sequoia is the second longest-lasting SUV
But the Toyota Land Cruiser isn’t the only SUV that can last 200,000-miles. According to iSee Cars, 9.2% of Toyota Sequoia models sold in 2019 were also able to reach 200,000-miles. iSee Cars found that 0.4% of models are likely to last beyond 300,000-miles too.
Another selling point for this long-lasting SUV? It’s pretty reliable. According to Consumer Reports, this year’s model earned itself a four out of five predicted reliability rating. It also earned a four out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating, making for a pretty solid recommendation.
The Ford Expedition is an SUV that’s built to go the distance
Say the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Toyota Sequoia aren’t quite your style, but you still want an SUV that can last for 200,000-miles or more. If that’s the case, there’s always the Ford Expedition. iSee Cars reports that 5.2% of Expedition models sold in 2019 lasted for 200,000-miles. While that’s certainly a lower percentage than the Land Cruiser and the Sequoia, it’s still pretty encouraging.
But as long-lasting of an SUV as the Ford Expedition may be, it’s not necessarily the most reliable SUV available. According to Consumer Reports, this year’s model earned a three out of five predicted reliability rating. Repair Pal also reports that the average annual repair cost for the Expedition is $861, which means it boasts higher than average ownership costs too.
Choose the Chevy Suburban for an SUV that can last 200,000-miles
For another SUV that can last 200,000-miles? Consider the Chevy Suburban, which according to iSee Cars’ study, 4.9% of Suburban models sold in 2019 were able to reach 200,000-miles. That’s definitely not a figure worth scoffing at.
But the Chevy Suburban is more than an SUV that can last 200,000-miles. This year’s model is available in six different trim levels, making it easy to find the perfect fit for you. It also boasts best-in-class second-row legroom, a larger third-row than previous model years, and best-in-class cargo volume.
The Toyota Highlander Hybrid is fuel-efficient and built to last
For a hybrid SUV that can last 200,000-miles, consider the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. iSee Cars reports that 4.2% of Highlander Hybrid models sold in 2019 surpassed that 200,000-mile mark. What’s unusual, however, is that its gasoline-powered counterpart didn’t fare quite as well. While 4.2% of Highlander Hybrid models reached 200,000-miles, only 1.3% of Toyota Highlander models sold in 2019 lasted for 200,000-miles.
