I see a red car and I want to paint it black, black as day, black as night. With apologies to the Rolling Stones, black cars are in, and the darker and flatter the paint, the better. Finally, manufacturers are catching on to the trend of “murdering out” a car or painting as much as possible in black paint. So, whether you want to call it a Nightshade Edition or a Stealth package, black on black is the hottest color combo for 2023.

Mercedes-Benz Night Edition

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is already a stout performer and its full of glorious tech. But to really set your all-electric EQS apart, you can now option it with the AMG Night Package or the new AMG Night Package II. That means you get black mirrors, beltline and window line trim black, tinted black glass, a black apron and more. Also, for the AMG trim, you get all-black A-wing trim, as well as the front splitter and fins in black chrome.

Toyota Nightshade Edition

Toyota is doing all it can to make the Camry less boring and the new Nightshade package goes a long way. The new trim is available on the SE and Hybrid models and adds 19-inch bronze-finished wheels and dark flat blue or black paint.  You also get the Camry TRD’s black grill, rear spoiler, black mirrors and black-trimmed headlights and taillights.

Dodge Midnight Metallic

To get a Dodge Hellcat Charger Jailbreak murdered out, it’s just a case of clicking all the black option and then adding the $199 Midnight Metallic badging package. It ensures that even the SRT badges that usually stand out in chrome plastic are fully blacked out. You can even pick black calipers for the brakes, a black roof, and for $3,5000 a satin black hood, roof, trunk and spoiler kit.

But then, with the Hellcat, they’ll hear you coming with its loud pipes and 707-horsepower supercharged V8 sitting up front.

BMW Shadowline Package

BMW offers a $1,300 Shadowline Package on its 3 Series cars, which is an addition to the M Sport package. With this package, you get to choose the color of your break calipers, and you get black mirrors, as well as more aggressive headlights. The Black Optic package adds more black to the car, like grille and bumper inserts. It’s also available on several other BMW models, according to The Weekly Autos.

Lucid Air Stealth

Lucid is jumping into the flat-black-car trend with a new Air package called the Stealth Appearance. While we don’t actually think it will make the car any stealthier, we do think it’s another sign that Lucid wants to be seen as the anti-Tesla electric car company. For $3,000 you can add the Stealth Appearance package to the Air Grand Touring and Air Touring sedans. This means Lucid Air’s are joining the army of blacked-out Dodge Chargers and Kia Nightfalls.

Stinger Tribute Edition

2024 is the last year for the fantastic Kia Stinger sedan. Kia designed this car to hustle like a BMW M40i with similar refinement, but at about half the cost. It mostly succeeded. Now, for its final year, Kia releases the Stinger Tribute Edition, which while not all black, is close enough for our money. This package includes a complete flat grey paint job, black 19-inch wheels, black exhaust tips and black mirror caps.

The Stinger still has Kia’s 368-horsepower twin-turbo V7 and a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic.
