While the editors here at MotorBiscuit test many cars every year to review them and give them awards, the folks at Car and Driver do the same. However, they have a much larger pool of cars to choose from and include instrumented testing in their reviews. As such, the prestigious publication has tested hundreds of cars in 2022. Here are 10 of the quickest ones they have reviewed.

2022 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS – 2.9 seconds to 60 mph

The Porsche 911 has never been a slow car by any means, and the 2022 Targa 4 GTS that Car and Driver tested proves it. The editors mainly credit the car’s quick-shifting dual-clutch gearbox and 473 hp for its remarkable performance. During their testing, the 911 Targa 4 was able to get up to 60 mph from a standstill in only 2.9 seconds, which makes it as quick as many exotic cars that are twice the price.

2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe – 2.9 seconds

We loved the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray so much that we awarded it with our 2022 Car of the Year award. Not only is it quite the stunner in terms of looks, but it’s also super quick. How quick? The folks at Car and Driver were able to hustle up to 60 mph in only 2.9 seconds on their test track. It’s no wonder we enjoyed its performance so much.

2022 Acura NSX Type S – 2.9 seconds

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S is the brand’s swan song for the fabled exotic car. We’re sad to see it go, but there’s no better way for it to hit the trail than with an earth-pounding 600-hp engine. When the rubber meets the road, the NSX Type S is able to get up to 60 mph from a stop in only 2.9 seconds, which is surprisingly the same as its non-Type S 573-hp counterpart. OK, so maybe the 600 hp only looks good on paper, but it’s still a quick car nonetheless.

2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive Coupe – 2.8 seconds

Not every car that Car and Driver tested hit the 2.9-second 0-60 mph time; a few of them were quicker. One such car was the 2022 BMW M4 Competition. This range-topping, all-wheel drive coupe was fitted with an uber-quick-shifting automatic transmission in addition to 503 hp, which netted a time of 2.8 seconds. That’s only 0.1 seconds slower than the other cars; however, every fraction of a second counts when measuring performance.

2022 Lucid Air Dream Performance – 2.6 seconds

The 2022 Lucid Air Dream Performance is a formidable competitor in the luxury electric sedan category. It has its sights set fully on the Tesla Model S despite the fact that it’s a little slower to 60 mph. The Lucid Dream was able to hustle up to that speed in 2.6 seconds compared to the Tesla’s 2.1. Regardless of its slightly slower pace, the Lucid is still blisteringly quick with its 1,111-hp powertrain, and it’s one of the quickest that the editors at Car and Driver tested this year.

2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S with Lightweight Package – 2.1 seconds

At $223,230, the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S isn’t cheap. However, with its lightweight package, it only weighs around 3,556 pounds, which means that in combination with its 640-hp powertrain, it can get up to 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds. That makes it the quickest on this list.

The quickest cars of 2022

While we’re a little jealous that the editors at Car and Driver are able to test out some precious metal, we’re glad that they put together lists like this. With them, we’re able to see which cars are truly the quickest in real-world settings. As we can see, many productions are much quicker than ever, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next year.
