6 Sensical Features on the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S AMG
We spent a week with the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE and enjoyed everything it had to offer. Its 600-hp, twin-turbo V8 was amazing, its two-toned interior was magnificent, and it was comfortable to boot. However, it’s the details that count, and the German automaker is known for paying attention to the smallest things. Here are six GLE features we found that make sense for everyday use.
1. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE Park Assist feature makes parking a breeze
Since the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a rather large SUV, it can take a lot of work to park for short drivers. No worries! Not only does the GLE have cameras in all four corners to help with visibility, but it also has a Park Assist feature. This feature assists in parallel parking, backing into spaces, and even parking head-in.
A simple push of a button on the infotainment screen activates the feature, which uses the car’s parking sensors to search for an open space. Once it’s found, the system automatically operates the steering and gear shift changes (drive or reverse) to navigate the car into the space. All the driver has to do is modulate the brake pedal.
2. The air fragrance atomizer keeps the car smelling new
If you can’t enough of the new car smell, the Mercedes-Benz GLE has an air fragrance atomizer built in. The little canister is placed in the glove box and can be activated in the climate control section of the infotainment system. It smells great and lasts a while, but be warned that the fragrance refill can cost over $100 from Mercedes-Benz.
3. The front cupholders keep your drinks cool and warm
The Mercedes-Benz GLE has many cupholders, but the two front ones are special. They not only cool your cup, but they can heat it as well. A button allows you to change the function, and there are red and blue LED lights in the cupholders to show when they are heating or cooling.
4. The adjustable suspension can be adjusted from the trunk
The Mercedes GLE has an adaptive suspension that can raise and lower the car to accommodate the terrain it’s driving on. One cool feature is the switch in the cargo area that allows you to lower the car when you need to load long or heavy items into the trunk.
5. The seat massagers will keep you awake on long road trips
Who wouldn’t want a massage while driving? Unfortunately, the Mercedes-Benz GLE doesn’t do a deep tissue session, but it can knead your back and hindquarters while you drive. Technically, the function is supposed to help you stay awake on long drives, but it’s nice to have regardless.
6. The infotainment menu can be controlled from the steering wheel
Although the large infotainment screen can be easily controlled with the touchpad on the center console, it can be cumbersome to use while driving. Fortunately, there’s a tiny directional pad on the steering wheel that allows the driver to navigate the menus with their fingertip.
Bonus feature: Hey, Mercedes!
One last bonus feature is the infotainment system’s voice command software. It uses A.I. to perform functions in the car, like raising and lowering the temperature, via simple commands starting with, “Hey, Mercedes!” For example, you can say, “Hey Mercedes, I’m cold,” and the system will raise the temperature for you automatically.
You can even have it tell you a joke. Overall, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE has plenty of great features that we enjoyed using throughout the week and this one made the most sense.
