A good coupe is hard to come by nowadays since the segment seems to be dwindling in favor of sedans and SUVs. However, there are still some coupes to be found in both the new and used market. However, the quality of some of them is a different story.

As such, iSeeCars.com rated a handful of new and used luxury and sports coupes based on their own quality index. The index is a 10-point scale that takes into account long-term reliability, value retention, and the highest average safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). There are many coupes rated, but here is a sample of seven of the best ones from the list.

1. Audi A5 – Overall Quality Score: 8.4

The Audi A5 was the best coupe of the luxury bunch, with an overall quality score of 8.4 out of 10. On paper, the Audi A5 seems to have it all; a potent 261-hp turbo engine, AWD, and respectable fuel economy figures in the 30-mpg range. Additionally, the A5 comes standard with a panoramic moonroof, tri-zone climate control, LED headlights, and a power trunk lid.

Regarding the sports coupes, iSeeCars rated the Ford Mustang the highest with a score of 8.4 out of 10. According to the car research website, “The Mustang’s simple and robust rear-drive platform and durable engine options endure the use and abuse of both fun and functional car shoppers.”

Speaking of those engines, the Mustang comes standard with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. There are also a couple of 5.0-liter V8 options available in addition to a supercharged V8 that makes 760 hp in the Shelby GT500.

3. Porsche 911 — Overall Quality Score: 8.7

The Porsche 911 is a German sports car icon, so it’s no wonder it tops the list of luxury sports cars. In addition to an upscale interior with a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the 911 is powered by 3.0-liter, twin-turbo flat-six engine. That engine makes 379 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. There are more potent engines available, and the 911 can even hit 197 mph with the automatic transmission and 199 mph when equipped with the manual. Now that’s quality.

4. Chevrolet Corvette — Overall Quality Score: 8.6

The Chevrolet Corvette is a classic American sports car that ranked second among the other sports coupes on the list. Its 8.6 rating stems from its unbridled power and supercar-like driving experience. There’s only one engine choice for the Corvette, but it’s a good one. Under the hood is a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 490 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.

5. Audi TT — Overall Quality Score: 8.2

We were a little surprised to see the Audi TT on the list. However, taking its elegance and sophisticated road manners into consideration, we can see why iSeeCars included it. Its potent turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that puts out 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque helps too.

6. Mercedes-Benz C-Class — Overall Quality Score: 8.1

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe was the fifth runner-up on the luxury sports coupe list. While it did score a little lower than others, we agree that its elegance and high-quality craftsmanship earn it a worthy spot.

7. Honda Civic Coupe – Best Everyday Coupe

One interesting honorable mention was the Honda Civic Coupe. The now-defunct Civic Coupe was added for its everyday drivability and relentless reliability. It may be discontinued, but you can still find plenty of used examples selling for good prices.

The best-quality sports coupes

While there are plenty of other new and used sport coupes to choose from, these were the seven of our favorites. Coupes may not be the most popular body style nowadays, but we think that this sample of them shows the quality many can provide. If you’re in the market for one, start with one of these seven. They won’t lead you astray.
