7 of the Best Used Midsize Sedans Under $15,000
It’s 2022, and the used car market is still crazy. Many used cars are selling for what they cost when they were new. However, if you’re willing to look at cars in the early 2010s, then some deals can be found. Here are seven good examples of mid-size sedans that cost less than $15,000.
1. 2014 Toyota Camry
There’s no denying that the Toyota Camry is a solid choice when shopping for a used car. The 2014 model came in five different trim levels with a choice between a gas engine or a hybrid powertrain. According to Kelley Blue Book, “If you can find an XLE for $15,000, you’ll get dual-power front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a power moonroof.”
2. 2013 Honda Accord
If you’re not into Toyotas, a tried-and-true Honda Accord could fit the bill. The 2013 models were available with two different engine choices; some even came with a manual transmission. There should be plenty of good used examples to be found. And finding the right one should be easy as there are six different trim levels to choose from.
3. 2014 Mazda6
If you’re looking for a fun, mid-size sedan, then the Mazda6 has what you need. It’s not as roomy as cars like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, but it offers a far more engaging drive. There’s only one engine to choose from – a 184-hp inline-4 – but it is possible to find one with a manual transmission, which makes them even more fun.
4. 2015 Chevrolet Malibu
A smooth ride, a comfortable cabin, and good fuel economy are what make the 2015 Chevy Malibu stand out from the rest. There are three different engines to choose from; a 196-hp 2.5-liter engine, a 259-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter, and a 182-hp 2.4-liter engine that’s mated to GM’s eAssist mild hybrid system. All of those powertrains are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
5. 2014 Kia Optima
The Kia Optima has great safety ratings, a robust roster of standard features, and a comfortable ride. There are also plenty of safety and convenience features to be found. Kelley Blue Book advises, “Keep an eye out for Optimas equipped with the optional 8-inch navigation screen, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.”
6. 2014 Ford Fusion
The Ford Fusion offers a lot, including a front or AWD layout and a bevy of engine choices. There are a couple of turbocharged engines to choose from – including a 240-hp 2.0-liter engine and a pair of hybrid powertrains. There’s even a plug-in hybrid model that can travel up to 21 miles on a single charge.
7. 2015 Subaru Legacy
The Subaru Legacy could be a good option if you live in a snow state. It comes standard with a symmetrical AWD system, which is ideal for getting traction. The Legacy also has plenty of room for up to five adults and has good efficiency for long commutes.

Although the used car market is still elevated, plenty of good deals can be found. Many newer midsize sedans are selling close to their original MSRPs. But if you can hunt for an older model like one of these seven examples, you should be ahead of the game.
