Kia’s own specs claim that the 2022 Stinger offers 23.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, with additional storage area when the seats are folded forward. This differs from Cars.com’s measurement of 15.5 cubic feet in the Stinger GT-Line 2.5T by quite a bit and sheds some light on issues of inconsistency in how usable cargo space is determined.

5: The 2021 VW Passat sedan has 18.5 cu. ft. of trunk space

With up to 36 mpg on the highway, 174 horsepower from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and 18.5 cubic feet of space in the trunk, the 2021 Passat R-Line is a great option for those looking for a convenient and capable car. The Passat is sadly being phased out as the VW Group kills 60% of its cars over the next decade. If you want a stylish German midsize sedan with good cargo space, you may need to look for a used one.

4: The 2021 Toyota Camry sedan has 19.4 cu. ft. of trunk space

Not only is the Camry the best-selling car of 2022, it offers a ton of real-world, usable trunk space. As you’ll note in the video above, manufacturer specs give the Camry only 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space as measured by basic industry standards. Remember—automakers and Cars.com measure trunk area differently, so you can’t compare these number directly. Just know that the Camry is packing… a lot of convenience.

Hyundai is doing more and more right these days, including gifting some massive cargo space to its sedans. The Sonata—which starts under $25,000—offers up 19.8 cubic feet of trunk space as hand-measured by the pros at Cars.com. Excellent fuel economy and an impressive variety of powertrain options makes the Sonata a solid choice among midsize sedans.

2: The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid sedan has 19.9 cu. ft. of trunk space

You may not be surprised to learn that the trunk in the Honda Accord is more spacious than some full-size sedans. In fact, this indulgent trunk has won awards for Honda’s midsize car. With just a hair under 20 cubic feet of usable cargo space and up to 48 mpg in the city and on the highway, the 2021 Accord Hybrid is a serious contender for the best car on this list. 1: The 2021 Kia K5 sedan has 20.3 cu. ft. of cargo space

Cars.com measured 20.3 cubic feet of usable cargo space in the 2021 Kia K5—manufacturer specs say only 16.0 cubic feet. The difference is likely in the small nooks and crannies that offer slightly more storage area than industry standards allow to be measured. Choose a midsize car with the best storage options

If cargo storage is the most important factor when buying a vehicle—honestly, get a hatchback or a crossover. Even spacious trunks can be somewhat limiting.
