1. 2019 Buick Cascada

If you’re in the market for a convertible, don’t care about performance, and need more than one passenger seat, then the 2019 Buick Cascada is a great choice. This model is no longer offered, so you’ll have to look to the used market for one. However, if you find a clean example, you’ll enjoy a quick-folding, multi-layer convertible top that folds in 17 seconds while driving at up to 31 mph.

But more importantly, your passengers will be treated to 42.2 inches of legroom up front and 32.8 inches of legroom in the rear. Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that puts out 200 hp to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Its 4,000-pound curb weight means that the Buick Cascada isn’t fast, but it’s comfortable.

2. 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible

If you’re looking for more power, then you’ll find it in the 2022 BMW 4 Series convertible. This drop-top luxury cruiser is powered by either a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that makes 255 hp or a turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder that makes 382 hp. That’s much more than the Buick Cascada, although it has the same legroom.

According to Autobytel, the BMW 4 Series boasts an identical 42.2 inches of legroom for front-seat passengers and 33.1 inches for the rear seat occupants. So, technically, your friends would be far more comfortable in this car than any other car on this list and they’ll appreciate getting to the destination in style as well.

3. 2019 Nissan 370Z Roadster

The Nissan 370Z Roadster is a two-seat convertible with a potent V6 engine and a folding soft top. Despite its lack of rear seats, the 370Z is fairly comfortable as it provides 42.9 inches of legroom and 37.8 inches of headroom for the two occupants. Additionally, while the 370Z is a sports car, its compliant suspension makes for a comfortable cruiser on the highway, but it can tackle tight corners with ease as well.

4. 2020 Mercedes-Benz SL Class

If you want to keep the elements out even more, then the Mercedes-Benz SL Class can help with that. Its folding hardtop keeps its two occupants well sheltered, but when the roof comes off, there’s plenty of fun in the sun. There’s plenty of legroom too as the SL Class provides the two passengers with 42.9 inches of legroom and 39.1 inches of headroom, which is more than the 370Z. What’s even better is that this drop-top Mercedes is powered by either a 362-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 or a 449-hp twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 that’s connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Not only is this convertible comfortable, but it’s also pretty fast.

5. 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

You would probably never think to take a Chevrolet Corvette on a long road trip, but it’s more comfortable than you might think. Sure, it only seats two people, but it also provides them with 43 inches of legroom and 37.9 inches of headroom. Those measurements are impressive, but the real measurement lies under the hood in the form of a 6.2-liter V8 engine. That engine puts out 455 hp, which is plenty of power for the everyday drive and makes any road trip more fun.

6. 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible

Believe it or not, the Ford Mustang convertible has the most legroom on this list. Well, in the front row, anyway. The front-seat passengers will enjoy 44.5 inches of legroom and 37.6 inches of headroom, while the rear seat occupants get 29.2 inches for their legs. That’s not very much, in fact, it may seem a little cramped for longer drives. So, while the Mustang convertible is comfortable, we can consider it more of a two-seater than a 2+2 as Ford calls it.

7. 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible

It’s hard to believe that the Lexus LC 500 actually has a back seat, but it does. In fact, there are 28 inches of legroom back there, but you wouldn’t really want to put anyone in those seats. In reality, it’s better for purses or backpacks.

On the other hand, the front seat occupants have 42.6 inches of legroom and 36.7 inches of headroom when the top is up. That’s a considerable amount and although the LC 500 is a supercar, we wouldn’t hesitate to take it on a long drive across the U.S.

While there are a few more convertibles in the market, these are among the most comfortable you will find. Sure, they’re not as comfortable as your standard sedan, but the road manners and potent engines in a few of these examples can make you forget about the lack of space.
