7 Plug-in Hybrids (PHEVs) That Cost Over $100,000
As time goes on, we see more automotive brands investing in plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models. Most are more expensive than regular hybrids, but roughly $30,000-$40,000 isn’t too high a price for a new and fuel-efficient car these days. However, that’s definitely not the case with today’s selection. We found seven luxury PHEVs that cost over $100,000!
1. Land Rover Range Rover Plug-in Hybrid ($104,900)
According to Land Rover, this PHEV makes 434 hp and can reportedly reach 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. While the outgoing model only had an electric range of 19 miles, this one has 38 miles of range.
Edmunds was a little disappointed that the Range Rover PHEV was slower than advertised. It also has a noticeable amount of body roll, and testers noted that its braking distance is worse this year. However, despite its unrefined daily handling, it still showcases excellent performance off-road and an exceptional interior.
2. Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid ($109,000)
The standard E-Hybrid version of this Porsche Panamera makes 455 hp and has a reported top speed of 174 mph. If you pay for the Sport Chrono package, this PHEV can reach 60 mph in as little as 4.2 seconds.
While it excels in speed, Porsche tells us that this PHEV gets just 19 miles of electric range. However, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid still has athletic handling and an adjustable air suspension for optimum cruising.
3. Karma Revero GT ($147,000)
Karma Automotive says that this sporty PHEV makes a whopping 536 hp and needs less than 4 seconds to hit 60 mph. It boasts 61 miles of electric-only range, which is triple what most of its rivals can provide.
While Car and Driver says the interior feels slightly aged, it’s still a fun PHEV to drive. However, interested buyers should be aware: the automaker says that this vehicle’s quantities are limited.
4. Bentley Bentayga Hybrid ($187,600)
Bentley tells us that this PHEV makes up to 455 hp, depending on the trim. During track testing, MotorTrend was able to hit 60 mph in 5.4 seconds with this model. Testers were also pleased with the PHEV’s unobtrusive transition between electric and gas-powered driving.
Car and Driver notes that this vehicle isn’t the fastest Bentayga, but the PHEV version is relatively cheaper compared to other variants. Either way, you still get access to the same great interior and buttery-smooth ride.
5. Bentley Flying Spur Plug-In Hybrid ($210,600)
Despite its high asking price, TrueCar says that the Bentley Flying Spur is one of the best luxury PHEVs available. According to Bentley, this PHEV has a twin-turbo V8 engine paired with an electric motor that generates 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.
TrueCar praises the Flying Spur PHEV for its athletic handling and highly customizable interior. Buyers have their pick of numerous interior colors and premium building materials, including genuine wood accents.
6. Ferrari 296 GTB ($322,986)
Ferrari says this model is the first to receive a redesigned V6 engine that makes a whopping 819 hp. It also comes standard with electronically-assisted power steering and has a top speed of over 205 mph.
Ferrari even gives visitors a preview of the car’s satisfying engine noise on its website. Car and Driver was also very impressed with this PHEV, particularly because of its body design and thrilling acceleration.
7. Ferrari SF90 Stradale ($507,000)
According to Ferrari, this PHEV has 986 hp on tap. It has three electric motors attached to its gas-powered V8 and comes with standard AWD.
Car and Driver says the SF90 Stradale zips by 60 mph in a clean 2 seconds. It also has an aggressive and unique exterior design. The interior is quite basic in comparison, but that leaves you to be more focused on the drive.
