Before buying the 2021 Ford Bronco, there are a few things you need to know. These things could make or break the Ford Bronco for you, but it’s crucial information that I learned during an excellent week with the Wildtrak Sasquatch. 

What you need to know about the 2021 Ford Bronco 

The 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak Sasquatch isn’t the average Bronco model. The four-door Wildtrak model includes the Sasquatch package and starts at around $49,475. It adds 35-inch mud tires wrapped around 17-inch Beadlock-capable wheels that may impact the ride quality. 

You also get an electromechanical transfer case, a suspension lift, heavy-duty Bilstein shocks, larger fender flares, an electromechanical transfer case, and locking front and rear axles. This setup is only paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission. I found that this was disappointing information because many people asked me if I had the manual transmission. 

1. The Bronco is tall 

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sasquatch has an 11.5-inch ground clearance. I’m only 5’1″ and had to climb up into it. But this isn’t the first time I’ve had to grab handles or the steering wheel to get into a large truck or SUV, so it didn’t bother me. 

I would recommend putting your bags and personal items in the Bronco first, giving you two hands to climb up in there. Or you could look into running boards or steps. 

The tall ride height was a plus for me. I enjoy sitting up above the traffic. However, drive-through windows were tricky to reach. Also, I was worried about driving under lower tree limbs and other obstacles but managed to avoid hitting or scraping the roof. 

2. The Ford Bronco is stable 

Because the Bronco Sasquatch is so tall, I was worried that it would have body roll around corners. But it’s stable and confident around tight turns and curves. I never experienced that feeling of close to flipping as I have in other boxy vehicles like the older Ford Escape models. 

You can make tight turns, U-turns, and more without any problems. The Bronco has a tight turning radius and is easy to park. It corners well and has responsive steering. Overall, it feels really safe and planted. 

3. The Bronco is loud 

The 2021 Ford Bronco has a pretty loud interior at highway speeds, causing people to raise their voices to speak and turn up the radio. It’s a little fatiguing on long trips on the interstate. One of my passengers noted that it doesn’t seem like a daily commuter. 

However, at lower speeds, the noise levels were fine. Other Bronco models without the extra lift and massive tires may have a quieter ride. Also, critics say the Bronco is quieter on the pavement than the Jeep Wrangler, so I’ll be finding a Rubicon to test this theory. 

4. There are massive blind spots 

If I owned this 2021 Ford Bronco model, I would immediately buy blind spot mirrors for the side mirrors. Even with adjusting the side mirrors, I couldn’t see when other cars were behind or beside me. Luckily, the blind spot warning was accurate and helpful. 

Also, visibility out of the back is limited. The headrests in the second row block your view, and the spare tire and brake light also get in the way. However, the Bronco’s 360-degree camera and parking sensors made it easy to maneuver in tight spaces. 

5. The 2021 Ford Bronco is fun 

It was hard not to have a massive grin while driving the 2021 Ford Bronco in the snow, in the city, interstate, and country roads. The 2.7-liter V6 engine provides 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.7 seconds. 

The peppy acceleration is a blast for merging onto the highway and passing others, and the responsive handling is sporty. When you press the pedal to the metal, the engine emits a satisfying roar. Even mundane chores such as going to the pharmacy and getting groceries are fun with this beast. 

6. The Bronco is massive and comfortable

I didn’t expect the 2021 Ford Bronco to be huge, but it offers tons of space. The front seats and larger and supportive, with plenty of legroom and headspace. The lumbar support keeps you comfortable and relaxed for long drives. The backseat is a little tighter, but there’s plenty of space for three average-sized adults. 

The power controls for the driver and front passenger seats allow people of all shapes and sizes to find the perfect seating position. I was able to seat myself high enough to see over the windshield. 

Also, the dual-zone automatic climate control is effective for quickly warming or cooling the SUV. If you use the remote start function, the climate control adjusts accordingly to the temperature outside. It was nice on cold mornings to have heated seats already feeling nice and toasty. 

If I got too hot while driving, I could adjust the temperature while my passenger could keep the heat blasting on their side. 

There are 52.27 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, with 82.97 cubes total. The trunk is massive, with plenty of room for your gear. 

7. The Ford Bronco is thirsty 

The 2021 Ford Bronco gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and up to 22 mpg on the highway. But the larger tires and lift on the Sasquatch may hurt those figures. I got 16.4 mpg all week on mountain roads and down in the country flatlands. 

You can use the Eco Mode to save fuel. But it’s been a very snow-filled and icy week in the Carolinas, so I mainly used 4×4 Auto or the Snow modes.
