It’s that nostalgic part of summer where we remember things we love, such as our week with the Ford Bronco. It’s been a few months since we sat behind the wheel of the 2021 Ford Bronco, and none of the other SUVs we’ve tested come close. 

7 things we miss about the Ford Bronco 

We had the 2021 Ford Bronco Sasquatch Wildtrack back in January when to was pretty cold outside. Now, as things heat up for summer in June, we wish we still had a Bronco for another spin around town. 

While we made full use of the Bronco when we had it, there are new things in the Summer weather we would like to try. Due to a massive 12-inch blizzard, we didn’t get as much off-roading time as we wanted. 

1. It’s easy to remove the Bronco’s roof 

One thing we miss about the 2021 Ford Bronco is how easy it is to remove the roof panels. We had a model with a hard top, and you can easily remove the panels over the rear seat by turning the latches. 

To remove the rear panel, open the tailgate and rear window glass and remove the electrical connections for the rear wiper. You can clip them into retainers on the left side of the back panel. 

Then use the Bronco-branded ratchet and P50 Torx driver from the standard tools and remove the bolts that fasten the rear part of the cover to each side. The bolts can be stored in the tool kit, and the other items can be stored in a massive protective cover found in the back. 

We couldn’t ride around without the doors and roof panels during the snow storm, but we would love to ride around without these items on a summer afternoon while tackling the woods. 

2. We miss how fun the Bronco is 

Our Bronco model had the 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, and it’s so much fun to drive. According to Edmunds, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.3 seconds. 

This is an excellent speed for such a tall, wide vehicle on massive 35-inch tires. The Bronco doesn’t sway in the wind, feel heavy or lumbering, and feels confident around curves with little to no body roll. 

The suspension is smooth, and the steering is surprisingly responsive. The Bronco serves as an engaging daily driver without fatigue. 

3. That engine roar is dreamy 

The 2021 Ford Bronco has a delightful engine roar. It was addicting to put it in sport mode just to hear it rev while accelerating. The Ford Maverick, Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-50, and other options don’t sound as satisfying. 

However, at higher speeds, wind and road noise does become extremely noticeable. Our ears were tired after about a three-hour road trip on the highway. 

4. The Ford Bronco is comfortable 

The Bronco has an interior that goes beyond and above expectations with unmatched comfort. We miss the larger leather bucket seats that are incredibly supportive and plush for long drives. There were no sore buns or lower backs to report. 

Plus, the backseat is comfortable as well. It has plenty of space for taller passengers to stretch out. The back rest is at a relaxed angle that’s perfect for longer trips. Four adults can fit without any complaints. 

The automatic climate control system is fast and effective. When it’s in the single digits, the cab quickly heats up for relief from the cold. The heated steering wheel and seats are nice and toasty. Now, we wonder how the system fights the heat.

5. The tech is intuitive  

The new Ford Sync 4 software doesn’t disappoint. The Bronco is available with an 8-inch or a 12-inch touchscreen, including crisp graphics with fast response times. It’s easy to quickly find what you’re looking for to adjust the settings without a headache. 

You can opt for a wireless phone charging pad. Plus, it’s quick and easy to connect wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The built-in navigation system recognizes voice controls and is very responsive. 

The digital gauge cluster also looks excellent. You can select various driving modes such as sport, eco, tow/haul, slippery, and more. The display provides crucial information about off-roading and hauling trailers. 

6. The ride height is just right 

I apologize for making a journalism mistake by switching between I and we, but the ride height is something that I personally love. It’s great to have an excellent riding height as a short person. At 5’1″, I feel like queen of the road in the Ford Bronco. 

With the 35-inch tires, the Bronco Sasquatch has an 11.6-inch ground clearance. But the SUV has an excellent center of gravity. It feels well-planted and table around curves, allowing you to sit up pretty with confidence. 

It’s great to look down at drivers with a better road view. Plus, it felt nice to reach down at drive-through windows 

7. The off-roading systems take things to the next level 

We need to go off-roading in the Ford Bronco again. It provides a phenomenal experience in the snow, and now we’re ready to tackle dirt trails through the woods. 

The High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) system places the ultimate control at your fingertips. Plus, the front-stabilizer bar disconnect and locking differentials allow the Bronco to crawl over obstacles easily. 

Going up inclines at steep angles in slippery snow and ice didn’t pose a challenge. The Bronco never slipped or felt short on power. The finely tuned shocks, springs, and solid rear axle are capable and stable. 

The independent front suspension, FOX Live Valve 3.1 Internal Bypass Semi-Active Dampers, and End-Stop control valves provide a smooth ride over rugged terrain. 

We could go on about the impressive suspension all day. We loved the Bronco during the harsh wintertime and really crave another Bronco adventure as the summer heats up.
