Electric vehicles (or EVs) haven’t replaced gasoline automobiles yet, but they’re slowly growing in popularity. Most people love the convenience of being able to charge at home and skipping the gas pumps, especially as prices soar. However, there’s still some fear that EVs are still too new and that there will be unforeseen issues in the future. Yet, never fear, as there are plenty of accessories you can use in your EV to solve almost any problem you face on the road.

An electric charger pretty much explains itself. You’ll need it to juice your electric vehicle up. Sometimes a charger will provide a plug, or you’ll need to use the cord that comes with your EV.

Traction reports that there are three types of charging units you can use. These are the rapid chargers, fast chargers, and slow units. There is also a solar EV charger available if you’re willing to spend the extra money upfront.

Home charging station

The biggest draw for many EV owners is the ability to charge at home. To do this, you will need a home charging station, with many available on Amazon. The joy of being able to plug your electric vehicle in and let it charge up overnight is a big draw for many.

Ecogears reports that this doesn’t raise your electric bill, either. There will be a slight increase, but it’s very insignificant compared to gasoline prices. However, you will have to pay extra for it, in addition to installation fees.

Electric car blanket

An electric blanket might seem like a strange application for your electric vehicle, but it’s pretty handy if you don’t want to splurge on heated seats. Just plug it into your charging port in the dash, and you’re good to go. This could be very handy for anyone who likes to go car camping but didn’t plan on how chilly the nights could get after a beautiful sunny day.

Electric car tires

While you can theoretically use typical car tires on your EV, it’s worth the extra money to purchase tires explicitly designed for an electric car. Many new to EVs may not know that they produce instant torque. Electric car tires can help extend the range of your vehicle.

All-weather floor mats

All-weather floor mats are a great add-on to get, whether you’re going green with an EV or sticking with a gasoline-powered vehicle for the moment. It’ll protect your flooring, which is essential as the car begins to age. It’s even more indispensable for electric vehicle owners who live in areas with harsh winters.

Extra charging cables

Yes, your electric vehicle comes with charging cables. However, nothing is 100% guaranteed, and it’s nice to have an extra set of cables just in case. It’s a good idea to get some made from heat-resistant materials, so they don’t overheat.

Extension cord

When your cord isn’t long enough and you can’t get closer to the outlet, an extension cord can quickly become one of the most important tools you own. Don’t just grab one from the closet, however. You need to make sure it’s heavy-duty so that it can hold a charge, and you don’t risk getting electrocuted as you plug it in.

Electric car jack and spare tire

Learning to change a flat tire may seem like a right of passage, and that’s because it’s probably going to happen at least once during your time on the road. An electric car jack plugs into the 12V power outlet, and the jack lifts your electric vehicle so that you can add your spare tire.

Electric vehicle sticker

If you’re an activist or just proud of the fact that you own an electric vehicle, a sticker can show your love to the world. There are stickers out there that say things like “Go Green” or Make Electric Affordable,” which will let others know your stance on saving the planet.
