Most of us will be fortunate if we can live to be 95 years old. If we can drive at that age, it will be a remarkable feat. Bobby Carson, a 95-year-old Army veteran that fought at the end of World War II in Germany, defies his age. He recently cruised home in a new 2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray, with a look of sheer delight on his face. 

WWII veteran bumped up the waitlist to get a 2022 Corvette Stingray

Typically, the waiting list to get a 2022 Corvette Stingray is two years. The demand for the C8 Corvette is sky-high. However, since time is of the essence for a 95-year-old veteran, Chevrolet bumped Carson up the waitlist after a few phone calls. He still had to wait a little while to get his Corvette, but only 30 days, as reported by WKNY News 40. It was the least that Chevrolet could do to honor Carson’s service to our country. You probably won’t find too many people complaining about a 95-year-old veteran getting a Corvette early, either. 

WWII Vet picked up his C8 Vette at the National Corvette Museum

Carson took delivery of his 2022 Corvette Stingray at a special event at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Corvette Museum has a collection of 80 Corvettes from every era since the iconic sports car’s 1953 debut. The Corvette Museum is also famous for a sinkhole in 2014 that swallowed eight Corvettes.

The World War II veteran is a longtime Corvette enthusiast, and the highly coveted 2022 C8 Corvette Stingray is the eighth Vette that he has owned. For the exterior, it has a striking Arctic White paint color with silver wheels and red brake calipers. Inside, the cabin features red and black leather. Carson opted not to get the Z51 Performance Package. Come on now. You can only ask so much from a 95-year-old WWII veteran.

The 2022 C8 Corvette will be Bobbie Carson’s ‘daily driver’

Carson’s 2022 C8 Corvette Stingray is the 42nd model off of the assembly line. After picking up his Corvette, Carson drove it home to Georgia. The WWII veteran intends to make full use of the sports car and not just let it sit in his garage as a collector’s item. He will sell his other car and use the new Corvette as his “daily driver.”

“I’ve had seven of these cars. This dwarfs every one of them. This is one of the top-rated cars in the world, and there’s a waitlist all over the world for this car. So, I’m happy to get it. They did me a great honor to get me in a position to get one.”

Carson is absolutely right to say that his new Corvette is one of the top-rated cars. The C8 Corvette, which debuted for the 2020 model year, earned numerous awards. This includes the 2020 Motor Trend Car of the Year award, the 2020 Car and Driver 10Best list, and the 2020 North American Car of the Year award. The 2022 Corvette Stingray that Carson received is primarily a carryover model. As demonstrated by the long waitlist, the C8 Corvette is still highly desired and in great demand.

This is a heartwarming story. It’s great to see that Chevrolet came through for the 95-year-old WWII veteran and honored his service. Let’s hope that we can make it to Carson’s age and have the vigor and energy to cruise around in an iconic sports car.
