We all love a good road trip, but not every vehicle is suited for the adventures we might want to take. If you’re considering a more remote trip, the Ford F-Series might be just what you’re looking for. In fact, Autotrader ranks this popular truck as the best option for an Alaskan road trip.

The benefits of choosing a Ford F-Series truck

No matter where you go in Alaska, it’s going to be fairly remote. Because of this, Autotrader recommends opting for a vehicle with four-wheel drive so that you’ll be able to confidently traverse the more rugged roads as you make your way through the beautiful Alaskan wilderness. The Ford F-Series is a perfect option here, providing dependability and comfort.

Additionally, while you might not want to think about the possibility of car troubles during a road trip, it’s important to plan ahead — especially if you’re going someplace where there might not be as many easily accessible mechanics.

This is another major benefit of the F-Series. Since the F-150 has been the bestselling vehicle in the United States for decades, the availability of parts should not be an issue even if you have car troubles in the more remote areas of Alaska. With other less popular options, however, you’re likely to be in trouble if you unexpectedly need a replacement part.

The F-Series also allows you to hook up a camper so that you can enjoy the fun of an RV trip without sacrificing the power offered by a pickup. Autotrader recommends combining the F-150 with a slide-in camper, which will enable you to enjoy the scenery every evening once you’ve finished driving.

There are so many different Ford F-150 options

Throughout its history, the Ford F-Series steadily evolved, but has maintained its popularity for years. There are so many options and configurations to choose from, however, that it might be difficult to pick the best. Fortunately, the plethora of choices also means that you’re sure to be able to find a truck that fits your needs and budget.

The 2020 base trim starts at $28,745 — but it’s very, very basic. This might be acceptable for shorter trips, but if you’re planning a longer road trip you’ll likely want a few more amenities. Car and Driver recommends opting for a Lariat trim, which starts at $42,750. This option comes with an 8.0-inch touch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities, and heated front seats.

If you plan to tow a camper, you may also choose to include the Trailer Tow package. Even without it, though, the F-150 can haul up to 7,000 pounds if you opt for the V8 powertrain. It can also tow an incredible 13,200 pounds with its twin-turbo V6 engine.

Impressive comfort and safety for a pickup truck

In addition to enjoying the gorgeous views on your road trip, you’ll also want to feel comfortable and secure in your vehicle. The Ford F-Series offers both comfort and impressive available safety features, according to Car and Driver. In fact, the F-150 was rated as a 2017 Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.

While it may not have an extensive number of standard features, the F-150’s abundance of available features ensures that you can get exactly what you want. Optional safety features include adaptive stop and go cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. If you have a larger budget, you can also deck out the interior with options such as a panoramic sunroof and massaging seats.

When you’re surrounded by Alaska’s mountainous beauty, the last thing you’ll want to worry about is car trouble. With the Ford F-Series, you’ll be able to set off on your adventure with peace of mind.
