A Lightly Used 2018 Toyota Camry Can Cost Under $20,000
The past year has given people plenty of reasons to be frugal. That’s why buyers who need a new car might want to consider a used one, especially a 2018 Toyota Camry. A pre-owned car that’s a couple of years old can offer many of the same features as a new car but at a much lower price. U.S. News recently compiled a list of great used cars under $20,000. The 2018 Toyota Camry is one that buyers should consider.
What’s good about the 2018 Toyota Camry
The 2021 Toyota Camry starts at $24,970, so the price for a 2018 Camry saves a few thousand dollars. Its average price hovers between $19,623 and $29,913. A new 2021 top-trim Camry starts at $35,545.
The Camry was redesigned for the 2018 model year. It scored very well, receiving a 9.1 out of 10 from U.S. News. The five-passenger sedan provides great value across multiple categories. U.S. News said it offers a “comfortable ride, attractive cabin, and stellar safety ratings” and is a great choice for “commuters and families alike.” It boasts plenty of standard features too.
The 2018 Camry also provides great fuel efficiency. The EPA rated the four-cylinder engine for 29 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway, one of the best in its class (for a non-hybrid). The V6 is rated for 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The Camry has two engine options: a 203-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a more powerful 301-hp, 3.5-liter V6. It’s a front-wheel-drive car with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with available paddle shifters.
The 2018 Camry’s interior is well-finished with nice materials, according to U.S. News. It comes with an easy-to-use seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Smartphone integration, navigation, and a six-speaker audio system are also included.
U.S. News also points out that the 2018 Camry has a perfect safety score and includes more standard safety features than many competitors. It comes standard with a rearview camera, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high-beams, and adaptive cruise control. Additional advanced safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear cross-traffic braking, a head-up display, and full-speed adaptive cruise control.
Awards the 2018 Toyota Camry has won
U.S. News gave the 2018 Toyota Camry multiple awards that year. The sedan received the organization’s Best Midsize Cars for the Money, Best Midsize Cars for Families, and Best New Cars for Teens. It also came in first place on U.S. News’ list of Used Midsize Cars $15K and Up.
The 2018 model’s drawbacks
There aren’t many negatives about the 2018 Toyota Camry. One is that the 2018 infotainment system is not compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Toyota added Apple CarPlay to the 2019 model and Android Auto for 2020. Other than that, U.S. News points out the 2018 Camry has a smaller backseat and below-average trunk space. The base trim offers 14.1 cubic feet of space in the trunk. The other trims provide a bit more, with 15.1 cubic feet.
The 2018 Toyota Camry is a great choice for a sedan with a nice ride, great fuel efficiency, and plenty of features. It also helps you save money over a new Camry while still providing a similar car.
