While the most valuable muscle cars are from decades ago, customers can still buy and drive the latest versions of those classic cars. Modern muscle cars may not be as cool as their ancestors, but they’re certainly more powerful. That said, muscle cars aren’t cheap, but for folks who are on a budget, a used 2013 Dodge Challenger may be the perfect choice for them. 

How much a used 2013 Dodge Challenger costs nowadays?

According to U.S. News, a used 2013 Challenger is one of the best cars that folks with a need for speed can buy with a budget of under $20,000. U.S. News wrote that the 2013 Challenger had a minimum market price of just under $14,000.

With that being said, since used car prices can vary quite a bit depending on where you’re at or who you’re talking to, not all used 2013 Challengers will be that cheap. 

For example, U.S. News also wrote that on the other end of the spectrum, there were used 2013 Challengers that were on the market for about $23,000.

So, while there’s a big $9,000 gap between these two price points, as long as your budget is in the ballpark of $20,000, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to afford a used 2013 Challenger. 

This used car isn’t short on power

The 2013 Challenger is still a muscle car, so naturally, the vast majority of its value is in its engine. U.S. News said that a used 2013 Challenger had three engine options, a standard 3.6-liter V6 that got 305-hp, and two V8 options. The first V8 option is a 5.7-liter, and it got about 375-hp. The other V8 option is the most powerful option, as it’s a 6.4-liter V8 that got 470-hp. 

While the V6 is weaker than the V8s, every engine is still very powerful, according to U.S. News. In terms of its specs, however, U.S. News wrote that, when equipped with the 6.4-liter V8, the 2013 Challenger could go from 0 to 60 MPH in about five seconds, and it could also top out at around 180 MPH. The 2013 Challenger’s top speed does vary a little based on the transmission it’s equipped with, but not by much. 

And of course, this 6.4-liter V8 had issues, too. Like most other large engines, the V8s were less economical than the V6 was. On top of that, U.S. News said that the 6.4-liter V8 might cost too much to be affordable for customers who are on a budget. That’s why the smaller 5.7-liter V8 may be the best compromise option for those customers. 

Why a used 2013 Dodge Challenger is still pretty good for today

At the end of the day, most people who are shopping for a muscle car aren’t looking for a massive touch screen display or all the fancy gadgets and gizmos that other cars provide. Most of those people are looking for power, and the 2013 Challenger offers plenty of power while being at a very affordable price point. 

On top of that, the 2013 model year wasn’t that long ago, and U.S. News wrote that used 2013 Challengers can actually come with a few amenities that are normal today. It didn’t have a touch screen as standard, but the premium models did come with a 6.5-inch touch screen, according to U.S. News. 

Furthermore, the 2013 Challenger was kind of practical given how powerful it was. U.S. News said that its rear seats were actually spacious for a sports car. Plus, the 2013 Challenger had about 16.2-inch of cargo space, which is decent for a sports car.
