There’s a more efficient diesel engine under the hood of the Cadillac Escalade. The stout 6.2-liter V8 engine gets 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, and it’s also paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. With rear-wheel drive, the Escalade gets an EPA-estimated 15/20/17 mpg. With all-wheel drive, it’s rated at 14/19/16 mpg.

While the Escalade and Navigator get better gas mileage than the new Grand Wagoneer, it’s not by much. Fuel economy is one of the few drawbacks to large and luxurious SUVs.

There’s a lot to love about the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. If price isn’t an issue and you can afford the gas, you’ll really appreciate the revival of this classic family vehicle. It will be on the roads this summer, and it starts at $88,995. There’s also the obligatory blacked-out model option called Obsidian, and it starts at $100,995. Meanwhile, the Series III Premium models sit on the top shelf for $109,980. Lastly, the Series II models of the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer offer most of the luxury of the Series III but cost less at $95,995. If you don’t mind the gas mileage, it’s a great vehicle for a family.
